Specially Selected Indulgent Greek Lemon Yogurt

If you’re like me and eat yogurt regularly, Aldi is my go-to store. The discount grocer sells yogurt cups and larger multi-serving yogurt containers of all flavors and types, including Greek yogurt, light plain yogurt, and whole milk plain yogurt. Aldi also sells its own version of Chobani Flip yogurt, called Tilts. They also carry Icelandic skyr yogurt and even lowfat yogurt tubes for kids (and kids at heart).

One of the more popular yogurts at Aldi is a lemon-flavored Greek yogurt sold in a larger 32-ounce container. Aldi fans on social media often rave about the lemon yogurt, but this yogurt flavor is not always easy to find in stores.

I suspect this is a Seasonal Item, which means Aldi may stock it for a while, but Aldi does not carry it all year. (If your local Aldi sells this year round, we’d love to know. Feel free to leave a comment.) When my local stores carry this, it’s usually stocked in the refrigerated case with all the Regular Buy year-round yogurts.

Specially Selected Indulgent Greek Lemon Yogurt

Specially Selected Indulgent Greek Lemon Yogurt cost $3.89 for a 32-ounce container at the time of publication. The container I bought had a sell-by date that was a little more than a month out from when I purchased it.

Specially Selected is not a company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi uses for various gourmet types of food such as stuffed shrimp, premium brownie mix, flatbread pizza, and more.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this yogurt contains milk. This is kosher.

Ingredients are cultured pasteurized Grade A milk, sugar, cream, brown sugar, natural flavor, honey, and pectin. It contains live and active cultures (B. Lactis, L. Acidophilus, L. Bulgaricus, L.Casei, L. Rhamnosus, Lactobacillus Lctis, and S. Thermophilus).

One container has about five 2/3-cup servings. One serving has 210 calories, 8 grams of total fat (10% DV), 5 grams of saturated fat (25% DV), 105 mg of sodium (5% DV), 25 grams of carbohydrates (9% DV), 23 grams of total sugars, 15 grams of added sugars (30% DV), and 7 grams of protein.

This yogurt has a great lemon flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. I like that it has minimal processed ingredients. It does have quite a bit of added sugar, though, so keep in mind that it’s not something to overindulge in. If you wanted to, you could reduce the sugar by mixing this with some unsweetened plain yogurt.

This lemon yogurt tastes good on its own, or mix it with some granola and fruit such as fresh raspberries. I’ve even heard of some people putting a spoonful of whipped cream on top for a special treat. You can’t go wrong however you serve this.

The Verdict:

Specially Selected Indulgent Greek Lemon Yogurt is a treat if you like lemon-flavored foods. It has good flavor, but just be aware it has some added sugars. Aldi doesn’t always seem to stock this, so if you happen to see it in your store, be sure to grab one. You’ll be glad you did.

  1. This makes the best lazy pie! Just spoon it into a graham crust and freeze. It’s so good!

  2. I use it in place of mayo for a chicken Waldorf salad.

  3. Since you reviewed Aldi’s “Indulgent Greek Lemon Yogurt,” it seems something about it has changed. It has new packaging, it costs more, and its name has changed from “Indulgent” to “Super Indulgent.” Hm. Any insights on what’s gone on here?

    • They increased the fat percentage of the dairy. It has cream and 9% fat whole milk. 2/3 cup now accounts for 50% dv of sat. fat and 310 calories.

  4. First off, I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I bought it for the first time last week, and when I took my first bite I was in taste bud heaven. It is indeed “decadent”, in fact that is what it’s called, “SUPER DECADENT”. But the new packaging also has a different calorie count than the one listed, I wish I could send a photo, it is now 310 for the 2/3 cup portion. I am not surprised, it’s simply too good to only be 210 calories. I’m going to stock up for December, I’m afraid it will go away after the holidays. And whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, on top, would make it extra special.
