Sundae Shoppe Arctic Bar

Last Updated on July 12, 2020

Aldi is known for imitating national name brands, and the discount grocer has done it again with its Arctic Bars ice cream dessert, which is a knockoff of name-brand Klondike Bars.

Arctic Bars come in a box that features a cute little illustrated arctic fox, and they sold for $2.49 for a 6-pack at the time of publication. Name-brand Klondike Bars sold for $2.97 for a 6-pack from Walmart at the time of publication, which is a 48-cent price difference.

Aldi’s Arctic Bars are described as “artificially flavored vanilla light ice cream with milk chocolate flavored coating.” These are a Seasonal Favorite at Aldi, which means they’ll be in stores longer than limited-time ALDI Finds (Special Buys), but they are not stocked year round. They’re usually at Aldi stores during the summer months only.

Sundae Shoppe Arctic Bar

They’re pretty good, and pretty similar to the name brand. In fact, my husband liked the Arctic Bars a bit better than Klondike Bars. I think the Arctic Bars have a slightly thinner chocolate coating, but it was not a deal breaker for me. The ice cream was smooth, the chocolate had a nice crunch, and my family all enjoyed this dessert.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Sundae Shoppe Arctic Bars are in stores during the warmer months and are a decent imitation of name-brand Klondike Bars. If you’re looking for a frozen dessert, you can’t really go wrong with these.

I like the artic bars from Aldi. I was disappointed that when I got home and then opened them the next day, the box only contained 5 bars instead of the six. It made me sad I was looking forward to all six bars.

    Thank you

  2. Just tried these articles bars for first time. I’ve always loved Klondike bars, but Arctic bars are even BETTER. My roommate agrees. Now I’m going to buy them for my grandkids. It’s my new fave.

    • I agree that they are better than Klondike’s. The ice cream is a nice vanilla flavor. Chocolate is just right too.
Never bought Klondike till ALDI stopped selling Arctic Bars. Very unsatisfactory.

  3. I want the Artic bars to remain with Aldi, I love them and I miss them. I’ve gone to 3 Aldi’s and I can’t find them. Now I’ve just read that Aldi will stop stocking them. WHY, WHY, WHY? IF I WANT ANOTHER FLAVOR of the ice cream bar, I will buy the Klondike’s however, if I just to enjoy an ice-cream bar with a little chocolate coating, I want the Artic bar – my family wants it too. I don’t know why Aldi will stop stocking them but, If you need a petition to keep Artic Bars on the shelf, send it out and I’ll be one of the first to sign..

  4. I really like the Arctic bars and went to Aldi’s to purchase some today and was disappointed when I was told that they are seasonal. Bummer!

  5. a produce similar in size should be sold in the off season. i like to see theses make-ups. toffee in dark chocolate with chocolate filler. a white chocolate covering with either vanilla or strawberry cream filler and either a chocolate, vanilla or honey gram cracker outing. add toffee and nuts such as cashews, walnuts, sunflower seeds. i know with those selections the cost is going to increase more than $2.49 for 6. i just hope it can stay below $3. instead of seasonal they should be sold year around.

  6. They keep them in stock all year around.
