Sundae Shoppe Fusion Ice Cream Bars

Whenever I go to Aldi, I feel like I’m always drawn to the dessert section. And recently I stumbled across a new item. They were called fusion ice cream bars, so I was curious to see what they meant by that, and if the bars are worth it.

The Sundae Shoppe Fusion Ice Cream Bars are $3.29 for a box of three, so they’re pricey. It averages out to about $1.10 per bar. These are Seasonal Favorites, which means they’re in stores for part of the year. Aldi does not offer online ordering for these if they aren’t in stock at your store.

There are two flavors: Sundae Shoppe Vanilla and Forest Berry White Chocolate Fusion Ice Cream Bars, and Sundae Shoppe Vanilla and Caramel Crunch Milk Chocolate Fusion Ice Cream Bars.

A single serving is one bar. The berry ones have 180 calories, 11g of total fat, 7g of saturated fat, 20g of carbohydrates, and 14g of added sugars. As for allergens, the berry bars contain milk, soy, and possibly egg, almonds, coconut, hazelnuts, pistachios, and pecans.

The caramel bars have 190 calories, 10g of total fat, 7g of saturated fat, 22g of carbohydrates, and 15g of added sugars. On the allergy front, the caramel bars contain milk, soy, and possibly egg, almonds, and coconut.

The reason they are called fusion ice cream bars is because they blend vanilla ice cream with some sort of filling. There is a fancier flap in the front of the box that you pull up to open the box, so it’s not how most ice cream bars are packaged.

In the berry bars, they put a strawberry filling. The crunchy white chocolate outside layer and the ice cream inside both have a taste similar to strawberries and cream, which is basically what it is, with raspberry pieces in the white chocolate coating. The caramel bars obviously have a caramel ice cream filling with the vanilla ice cream. I preferred the berry bars, but that’s because I’m not really a chocolate person. None of us thought any of the bars were bad, but the price is debatable and makes these more of an occasional treat.

The Verdict:

The Sundae Shoppe Fusion Ice Cream Bars come in chocolate and caramel or berry flavors, and both are good. I don’t have any major complaints, and I would recommend them, but because of their higher price, I may not get them again. They are definitely meant to be fancier than traditional ice cream, so if I were to get them again, it would be for a special event.
