When St. Patrick’s Day draws near, Aldi kicks into gear with an array of celebratory foods. Whether you want to make a corned beef and cabbage dinner or if corned beef and Reuben bites are more your thing, the grocer sells plenty of limited-time Irish-themed foods. Aldi also rotates some St. Paddy’s Day desserts into the mix, including mint striped fudge cookies. This year, Aldi added a fun new dessert option to the mix in the form of specialty ice cream pints.
Sundae Shoppe Luck O’ the Cookie Dough and Shamrockin’ Swirl Ice Cream cost $1.99 for a 16-ounce container (1 pint) at the time of publication.
This ice cream is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. You won’t be able to order it online once it sells out at your local store.

The Luck O’ the Cookie Dough ice cream features “cookie dough flavored ice cream with yellow fudge chips & green star shaped sugar cookie dough.”
Sundae Shoppe Shamrockin’ Swirl Ice Cream.
The Shamrockin’ Swirl ice cream features “mint ice cream with yellow fudge chips & choco-cookie crumb swirl.”
My family liked both flavors but indicated the cookie dough ice cream was their favorite. It has plenty of crunchy “yellow fudge chips” that don’t really taste like chocolate but instead have a sweet white chocolate kind of flavor. This ice cream flavor also features slightly chewy green cookie dough bits in the shape of stars. The cookie dough ice cream’s appearance reminds me somewhat of Lucky Charms cereal, although it doesn’t taste like Lucky Charms.
The mint ice cream has a classic minty flavor and it also includes plenty of the yellow fudge chips. Some of us thought it might be nicer if the fudge chips had a chocolate flavor, but they’re all right as long as you like white chocolate. The choco-cookie crumb swirl has a gritty texture some of us weren’t as fond of, but it didn’t stop us from eating all the ice cream. I’m not sure we liked the mint flavor enough to buy it again, though.
Both ice cream flavors are kosher, and each container has three 2/3-cup servings (92 grams).

The cookie dough flavor includes green star-shaped cookie dough pieces and yellow “fudge” chips, while the mint flavor also features “fudge” chips along with a chocolate cookie crumble swirl. We’re especially partial to the cookie dough ice cream.
