SOHL Furniture Accent Cabinet

In September of 2019, Aldi debuted the SOHL Furniture Accent Cabinet. It was roughly 2 1/2 feet wide and tall, a little over a foot deep, and was designed to do what the name said: provide a little extra for whatever room it goes in.

It quickly became one of the most talked-about Aldi products on social media. Shoppers swarmed to stores to find it, and pictures popped up all over Facebook and Instagram of the cabinets in all sorts of different spaces. They were hard to find, and this was before the shopping rushes of the pandemic.

The biggest sign of what a cult following the cabinets had: the name. Few shoppers called them the SOHL Furniture Accent Cabinet. No, these were the Aldi teal cabinets.

Well, they’re back. It’s the same cabinet, with the same dimensions, at the same $69.99 price. You can find similar cabinets on Amazon, Target, or Walmart, but expect to pay a lot more.

The Aldi cabinets hit stores either on September 6, 2020, or September 9, 2020, depending on whether your store is a Sunday or Wednesday store. It’s important to know that Aldi will only get one shipment per store, so once they’re gone from your store, they’re gone. Since Aldi doesn’t sell them online, if you can’t find them in your local stores, you’re going to be out of luck, probably until next year.

Before you line up to get one, you may want to take a look at our open thread on the cabinet from last year. Not only does it contain information on the cabinet, but it also discusses the cabinet’s warranty provider, who we’ve dealt with before. The comments may also be useful — we got a lot of feedback from buyers, both good and not-so-good. Also good to know: at the time of this post, Aldi is operating under its normal return policy.

We expect that, this fall, this will be a hot item, just like it was in 2019. I can’t predict how hot, but given the circumstances, if you’re desperate for one you probably don’t want to wait too long to get one once it hits stores.
