Why Aldi Huntington Home Single-Wick Candles Arrived at Just the Right Time

Huntington Home Single Wick Candles

Aldi candles have a big cult following. For as long as I can remember, the discount grocery store has sold an ever-rotating array of soy-based three-wick candles in glass jars in a variety of scents and colors, and for every season. Aldi candles are good, with some fans saying they’re comparable to pricier Bath & Body Works candles. Aldi candles burn reasonably well, and they smell great, with scents available to satisfy every nose.

However, during the last few months, Aldi candles have fallen victim to the same price increases and inflationary pressures we’re currently seeing around the world. Yet Aldi has always been good at offering customers the some of the best value around, and they’ve come up with a brilliant solution. At about the same time that I noticed Aldi 14-ounce three-wick candles went up in price from $3.99 to $4.29 in my local stores, I also noticed some new candles on the store’s shelves.

Aldi has introduced smaller new single-wick candles that look just like the original three-wick candles — same glass jars, same metal lids, same label font and illustrations — but they sell for a fraction of the cost of the three-wick candles. Huntington Home Single-Wick Candles each cost $2.49 for a 6.5-ounce candle, compared to $4.29 for 14-ounce Aldi Huntington Home Three-Wick Candles. These miniature candles are almost half the cost of their larger siblings.

It should be noted that at this point, Huntington Home Single-Wick Candles are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. However, Aldi has stocked them several times in the last few months, so they appear to be a frequent special. If you miss out on the current slate of candle scents in stores, just wait a few weeks and new scents should arrive.

Why Single-Wick Candles are a Good Move by Aldi

This seems like a smart time for Aldi to add smaller candles to its product lineup. There are two reasons for this.

For one thing, if you’re on a tight budget, you may appreciate the fact that you can still buy affordable luxuries from Aldi in the form of these smaller single-wick candles. These little candles are great for treating yourself or for gifting to neighbors, teachers, or friends. Many people will probably continue to buy the larger candles from Aldi and not think twice about it, but the single-wick candles give customers more options and flexibility.

Secondly, Aldi stands to benefit from this new candle line by selling even more candles than before. Because the single-wick candles seem to come in different scents than the three-wick candles, dedicated Aldi candle fans are likely to buy both types of candles. We’ve seen the new smaller candles in scents including Lemon Buttercream (one of my favorites), Cereal Milkshake, Agave Blossom, Cucumber Mint Leaf, Happy Mother’s Day, Sea Salt & Bergamot, Pear Blossom & Citron, and more.

So it’s a win-win situation: customers have cheaper candle choices and more variety in candle scents, and Aldi potentially increases its profits.

Are Aldi Single-Wick Candles as Good as Aldi Three-Wick Candles?

I purchased a Lemon Buttercream single-wick candle during a recent Aldi shopping trip. It has a nice lemon scent with notes of sugary baked goods and icing. The bottom label also indicates these candles are made in the U.S. The single-wick candles are made with the same soy-blend formula as the larger three-wick candles and burn just as well, only in a smaller jar. I’m happy with the single-wick candle I picked up and will gladly buy more.

These new candles are another way in which Aldi delivers on its price promise, as indicated in a recent press release by the grocer. Aldi CEO Jason Hart stated, “No matter what happens in the world around us, Aldi will always be the low-price leader in every community we serve.” He added, “Whether you’re feeling the pinch at the gas pump or on your home energy bills, you can count on Aldi as a bright spot in your weekly budget.”

The new candle line at Aldi is literally a bright spot for many customers.
