This Week at Aldi: The Ad for April 18, 2018

Each week we highlight a few of the more interesting items in the upcoming Aldi ad. Note that, in our area, the ad takes effect on Wednesday, but in some areas it may take effect as early as today, Sunday.

This week’s theme includes grilling gear, supplies and decor for the garden and yard, kitchen accessories, clothing, and some Earth Day-themed products such as a recycling bin and organic sheets. There is too much to even begin to list most of it here, so be sure to check the ad itself and/or stop by your local Aldi.

The Most Interesting Thing We Saw:

• Gardenline Tumbling Composter, $39.99. Aldi has sold stationary composters before, but I’ve never seen the store sell a tumbling composter. This one is 18.5 gallons, which seems a bit on the small side considering that I’ve been using a 6.5 cubic foot (about 48 gallons) Suncast tumbling composter for several years. My Suncast is falling apart, though, so I’ll be purchasing the Aldi composter to give it a try. It comes with a chamber-locking mechanism, a sliding door, and a two-year warranty, and it should make finished compost in four to six weeks.

Special Buy (ALDI Finds) Highlights:

Items for grilling include:

• Range Master 2-Burner Stainless Steel Gas Grill With Folding Shelves, $169.99. This grill measures 47.64″ x 22.44″ x 45.75″, with a 365″ cooking area and 97″ warming rack, with a 462 total square inch cooking area. It features 24,000 BTU and comes with stainless steel grates, a built-in thermometer, built-in tool hooks, a chrome-plated warming rack, stainless steel burners, Piezo ignition, and 4 castors (1 locking) for easy mobility. It also has a 2-year warranty, with a 5-year burner warranty.
• Range Master 69″ Grill Cover for $12.99. It’s made of heavy-duty vinyl, measures 69″ x 25″ x 37″, and fits most 4- or 5-burner grills. It has a soft flannel lining to protect your grill’s finish, with a Velcro closure at the bottom.
• Range Master BBQ Grill Basket, $6.99 each. Choose from burger basket, vegetable basket, or fish basket. All are chrome-plated metal with comfort-grip handles.
• Range Master Tongs, Spatula or Grill Brush, $2.99 each.

Other gardening supplies include:

• Gardenline Grass Shear/Shrubber or Pruner, $24.99. It features a 7.2V lithium-ion battery and 1500 mAh battery capacity. It has a quick change blade system with rotary handle and cordless design for added versatility.
• Scotts Broadcast Spreader, $26.99. No assembly is required. This has Edgeguard Technology that keeps it off non-lawn areas. We’ve used a Scotts Broadcast Spreader and it’s performed well, and this price is a good one.
• Gardenline Anvil or Bypass Lopper, $9.99. Maximum cutting capacity of 1.4 inches. Anvil Lopper is 29.5″ and Bypass Lopper is 29″. These feature an ILAFLON Resist coated nonstick blade.
• Workzone Splitting Axe or Sledge Hammer Assortment, $9.99. Choose from a 1.25-lb. Splitting Axe with fiberglass handle or 4-lb. Sledge Hammer with fiberglass handle. Both have an have anti-shock, 15″ handle and black oxidized head.
• Gardenline Trellis, $6.99. These are 66″ high and come in finial or bird designs. They’re rust resistant and made of durable powder-coated steel. I own two trellises from Aldi in the bird design, and they’ve served me well for several years.
• Gardenline 7-Piece LED Pathway Lighting Set, $69.99.  Choose from 150 lumen spotlights or 100 lumen pathway lights. Includes 4 pathway lights, 2 spotlights and 1 low voltage transformer. No tools are required for installation, and a Photosensor turns lights on automatically when it gets dark.
• Gardenline Stainless Steel Solar Light, $1.99. This is advertised as 3x brighter than the standard 1 lumen light output.
• Gardenline Plant Stand, $9.99. Choose from various styles and sizes.
• Gardenline Hummingbird Feeder, $6.99. This holds 8 oz. of nectar and has built-in bee guards. It’s made of dishwasher safe glass.
• Huntington Home Spring Coir Mat, $6.99. Choose from assorted styles measuring 8″ W x 30″ L. Made of natural coir fibers with a vinyl backing.
• Gardenline 6-in-1 Tool, Pruner Set, or Micro Pruner Set, $3.99.
• Gardenline Hand Tools or Kneeling Pad, $3.99. Choose from a Trowel, Non-Welded Trowel, 9 Tooth Rake, 3 Tooth Rake, Blue Kneeling Pad, or Green Kneeling Pad. Tools are stainless steel.

Kitchen items include:

• Crofton Ceramic Nonstick Bakeware Assortment, $4.99. Choose from a 9″ Round Cake Pan, 9″ W x 13″ L Cake Pan, 12-Cup Muffin Pan, or 10″ W x 15″ L Cookie Sheet. These are PTFE/PFOA free and made from Ceramic Fusion nonstick coated steel. They have a 5-year warranty.
• Crofton Ceramic Nonstick Pans, $14.99. Assortment includes 8″ and 10″ Fry Pan Set or 10.25″ Sauté Pan With Lid. The Fusion Titanium ceramic nonstick coating is designed to create superior release, abrasion resistance, and eco-friendly cooking. These are lead and cadmium free and PTFE/PFOA free.
• Crofton 4″ Ceramic Knife, $4.99. This is dishwasher safe and features a non-slip handle and a blade cover.
• Crofton Ceramic Peeler, $2.99. This comes in a variety of colors and features a corrosion resistant ceramic blade and non-slip-handle, and it’s dishwasher safe.
• Crofton 20-oz. Glass Hydration Bottle, $6.99. This is BPA free and made of borosilicate glass. It’s dishwasher and freezer safe and comes in a variety of colors.

Clothing includes:
