This Week at Aldi: The Ad for April 4, 2018

Each week we highlight a few of the more interesting items in the upcoming Aldi ad. Note that, in our area, the ad takes effect on Wednesday, but in some areas it may take effect as early as today, Sunday.

This week’s theme includes outdoor/patio/garden furniture and plants, along with lots of German food.

The Most Interesting Thing We Saw:

Gardenline Double Glider

  • Gardenline Double Glider, $49.99. This is a great little glider. My family bought a similar model from Aldi about eight years ago, and it has held up well, showing little wear. Be aware that Aldi patio furniture often has lower maximum weight limits that can be as low as 200 pounds per person/per seat. I’m not sure what the specifications are yet for this glider. In addition, I strongly recommend placing this glider somewhere that is slightly sheltered such as under a porch roof, under a patio canopy, etc. My glider has performed well sitting year-round on our front porch, which has a roof and is open to the elements on just one side. In contrast, my in-laws bought a similar glider from Aldi but placed it in the open on their patio, where the metal parts rusted a bit and the mesh seat ripped after a few seasons.

Special Buy (ALDI Finds) Highlights:

Other patio furniture and items for the yard include:

  • Gardenline Gazebo With Netting, $129.99. This measures 10′ x 10′ x 9′. Also available: Gardenline Gazebo Replacement Canopy for $24.99.
  • Gardenline 2 Person Swing, $69.99. I have owned a similar swing from Aldi for nearly five years, and while it does show some wear, it’s still quite functional and the price can’t be beat. I store my swing in a shed during the winter to help make it last. My swing has a 500-pound total weight limit, and I assume this swing is similar. Read a review of my swing here.
  • Gardenline Patio Dining Table, $69.99. Measures 60″ x 37″ x 27.9″.
  • Gardenline Stacking Chair, $12.99. I own two of these chairs. They are worn out after several years of use, and some heavier people have sat in them, which has strained the stitching that holds the sling seats to the metal chair frames. So, again, much of Aldi’s patio furniture is best for people no more than 200 to 250 pounds. Be sure to read the box/manual for all products.
  • Gardenline Stacking Sling Rocker, $24.99.
  • Gardenline Stacking Side Table, $9.99. Measures 16″ x 16″ x 18″.
  • Gardenline Garden Arch, $39.99. Measures approximately 57″ x 102″ x 15″, with an approxate 7.3′ center height.
  • Gardenline 9′ Aluminum Umbrella, $24.99. Comes in assorted colors. You also can purchase a Gardenline Umbrella Stand for $19.99 that weighs 30 pounds, or a Gardenline Umbrella Light for $8.99.
  • Huntington Home 6′ W x 9′ L Flat Weave Indoor/Outdoor Area Rug, $49.99.

Plants include:

  • Gardenline Mixed Spring Bulbs, $3.99. Assorted varieties available.
  • Gardenline Berry Bush, $5.99. Aldi typically sells these, and many other plants, in a sort of root/stick form because the plants are getting shipped and then sitting inside stores rather than outdoors in a nursery. I’ve never tried growing anything this way. Feel free to share in the comments if you’ve had success products like this.
  • Gardenline Ornamental Shrub, $2.99.
  • Gardenline Shade or Ornamental Tree, $14.99. Available in assorted varieties.

German foods include:

  • Deutsch Küche Egg Spaetzle, $1.99 for 17.6 oz. You also can purchase Deutsche Küche Egg Spaetzle in assorted varieties such as Mushroom Egg Spaetzle for $1.59 for 5.26 to 5.5 oz.
  • Deutsche Küche European Mustard, $1.49 for 12.1 to 13.3 oz.
  • Deutsche Küche German Bread, $2.29 for 17.6 oz. Comes in assorted varieties, including sunflower seed.
  • Snofrisk Spreadable Cheese, $3.19 for 4.4 oz.
  • Deutsche Küche Cornichons, $1.99 for 12.5 oz.
  • Deutsche Küche Mini Bratwurst, $3.79 for 11 oz.
  • Specially Selected German Luxury Cake, $6.99 for 21.16 to 22.93 oz. Comes frozen.
  • Deutsche Küche Pound Cake, $1.99 for 14 oz.
  • Deutsche Küche Doppel Keks, $1.99 for 17.6 oz.

Fresh Meat Special Highlights:

  • USDA Choice Eye of Round Roast, $3.49 per lb.
  • Pork Sirloin Roast, $1.99 per lb.

One Comment

  1. I too have had this glider for about 7 or 8 years and don’t worry about the 200 pond capacity. I weigh more than that as does my husband and it has no problems. It has been through all weather conditions and I use a little bit of WD40 to keep its joints moving. One of the greatest buy’s I’ve made!
