Trader Joe’s Crispy Peanut Butter Filled Milk Chocolate Peanuts

I love browsing among all the sweets at Trader Joe’s. The store, which is Aldi’s cousin, sells all kinds of unique goodies, from gummy fish candies to macarons. And, unfortunately for my sweet tooth, many nonperishable treats line the shelves above the freezer cases at TJ’s, so even if I’m trying to select healthier options such as frozen veggies or entrees, I can’t avoid facing temptation.

During my most recent shopping trip to Trader Joe’s, I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any sweets. But then I saw these little peanut-shaped chocolates filled with peanut butter, and I remembered seeing people in a Trader Joe’s Facebook group I’m in rave about them. So a bag ended up in my cart.

One bag contains about 4.5 three-piece servings. The bag I purchased had 14 pieces, so each person in my family of four had 3 and a half pieces.

Three pieces (30 grams) will net you 170 calories, 11 grams of total fat (14% DV), 5 grams of saturated fat (25% DV), less than 5 mg of cholesterol (2% DV), 85 mg of sodium (4% DV), 14 grams of total carbohydrates (5% DV), less than 1 gram of dietary fiber (3% DV), 12 grams of total sugars, 10 grams of added sugars (20% DV), and 4 grams of protein.

Cute little chocolate peanuts.

The chocolates really do look like peanuts in the shell, and they’re similar in size to real in-shell peanuts. The chocolate is thick, and peanut butter inside is gooey and salty, nicely balancing the chocolate’s sweetness. The crispy rice bits are mixed in with the peanut butter filling and add just a slight crunch.

Everyone in my house loved these, and they didn’t last long after coming home from the store, in part because there aren’t that many in the bag. That’s a fortunate thing for all our waistlines.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Crispy Peanut Butter Filled Milk Chocolate Peanuts have plenty of chocolate and peanut butter goodness with a slight crunchy bite. If you’re looking for a sweet snack, these will probably hit the spot.
