Trader Joe’s Meyer Lemon & Cream Yogurt + Raspberries & Cream Yogurt

I try to eat yogurt several times a week to promote healthy immune and digestive systems, and potentially for other health benefits. I often eat plain yogurt flavored with some honey, lemon curd, fruit, and/or granola. At other times, I’ll eat yogurt cups, flavored yogurts, French-style yogurt, or skyr. I usually buy my yogurt at Aldi, but sometimes I pick it up from Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi.

I like lemon-flavored foods, and when I saw some lemon and cream yogurt advertised in the most recent Fearless Flyer from Trader Joe’s, I decided to try some.

Trader Joe's Meyer Lemon and Cream + Raspberries and Cream Yogurt

Trader Joe’s Meyer Lemon & Cream Yogurt Cups and Raspberries & Cream Yogurt Cups cost $2.99 at the time of publication for a pack of six 4-ounce cups. That comes out to about 50 cents per serving. Each six-pack contains three lemon and three raspberry yogurt cups. At the time, TJ’s also sold similar yogurt cups in Mango & Cream and Peaches & Cream flavors, but I have not yet tried those.

The yogurt is Grade A and should be kept refrigerated.

If you’re watching out for allergens, both flavors contain milk. They do contain bovine gelatin and natural flavor. The raspberry flavor contains fruit and vegetable juice for color, while the lemon flavor has turmeric for color. As is typical with Trader Joe’s products, these are sweetened with cane sugar and do not have any high fructose corn syrup.

They contain live active cultures: streptococcus thermophilus, lactobacillus bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, bifidobacterium lactis, and L. casei. The yogurt was cultured after pasteurization.

Both yogurt flavors are good, and I especially like the lemon and cream flavor. I like how these yogurts actually do list cream among the ingredients and not just in their names. The lemon flavor tastes especially indulgent, and it really does taste creamy. The raspberry yogurt is good, too, although maybe more on par with other fruity yogurts I’ve eaten. Both flavors are good enough that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this flavor pack again, and I might also try the mango and cream and peaches and cream flavors Trader Joe’s also sells.

The only knock against these yogurts is that they do contain quite a bit of added sugar (12 grams per serving), but that’s common for any flavored yogurt, so enjoy in moderation.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Meyer Lemon & Cream Yogurt Cups and Raspberries & Cream Yogurt Cups feature good fruity flavor with notes of cream. We are big fans of the lemon flavor, but the raspberry is good, too. If you like yogurt, or if you’re trying to get more probiotics into your diet, this is worth trying. Just be aware that like most flavored yogurts, these are not a low-sugar food.
