Trader Joe’s Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches

I love looking through the selections in the dessert freezer at Trader Joe’s. Among my family’s favorite treats from Aldi’s cousin are the macarons, and the vanilla ice cream, and the Hold the Cone ice cream cones. When asked about favorite desserts, many devoted TJ’s fans will probably mention the Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches.

These aren’t your usual ice cream sandwiches with the rectangle shapes and the soft perforated chocolate crusts. Instead, these feature two chocolate chip cookies with a vanilla ice cream filling covered in tiny chocolate chips. They look like the delicious ice cream sandwiches the dining hall used to make and serve every week at the youth summer camp I worked at back when I was a college student, so I had to pick up a box to try.

Trader Joe's Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches

Trader Joe’s Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches cost $4.79 at the the time of publication for a 20-ounce box that contains four 5-ounce ice cream sandwiches. That comes out to about $1.20 per ice cream sandwich. That’s more than what the basic ice cream sandwiches at Aldi cost, but these TJ’s ice cream sandwiches are not basic.

The box describes these TJ’s treats as “vanilla ice cream sandwiched between chocolate chip cookies and rolled in mini chocolate chips.”

These are kosher, and primary ingredients include ice cream, chocolate chunk cookie, and chocolate drops. If you’re watching out for allergens, these contain milk, soy, egg, wheat.

Trader Joe's Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches

We enjoyed these ice cream sandwiches on a Friday evening as part of a family movie night. They were, as the name states, sublime. The ice cream is smooth, creamy, and rich, and the chocolate chip cookies are the perfect vehicle for holding the ice cream and getting it to your mouth, while the mini chocolate chips add a nice bit of crunch. I’ve had a lot of ice cream sandwiches in my lifetime, and these were surprisingly good. I think I’ve found a new favorite at Trader Joe’s.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches are a divine treat, with rich and creamy ice cream, perfectly baked cookies, and tiny chocolate chips that add some crunch. Highly recommended.
