Trader Joe’s Supreme Hydrating Eye Cream

I’m not into complicated beauty routines. Give me some good facial cleanser, an oil-free facial moisturizer, and some lip balm, and I’m good. But I enjoy trying beauty and hygiene products from Aldi’s cousin Trader Joe’s, and when I saw this little tube of hydrating eye cream during a recent shopping trip, I dropped it into my cart.

Trader Joe's Supreme Hydrating Eye Cream

Trader Joe’s Supreme Hydrating Eye Cream cost $5.99 for a 0.53-ounce tube at the time of writing. That’s cheaper than most eye creams at other retailers such as Target, where many brands are double the price for a similar amount of eye cream.

The Trader Joe’s eye cream is a product of New Zealand and includes plant extracts, hydrolyzed marine collagen, Manuka honey, hibiscus extract, and COQ10 (ubiqinone). It also has almond, argan, rosehip, and marula seed oils. It was not tested on animals.

To use, gently apply by lightly tapping a small amount around the eye area. This can be used morning and night.

Simple enough. While I’ve used plenty of regular facial moisturizer over the years — usually Neutrogena’s oil-free options or generic brands that are comparable — and I’ve used it near the eye area, this is the first time I’ve used a cream specifically for around the eyes. It’s easy to use, and I like the feel of it. It absorbs easily into my skin and doesn’t leave a greasy or unpleasant residue. It also has such a light, mild fragrance that I don’t usually smell it unless I put it right up to my nose.

It appears experts are divided about whether eye creams really make a difference, and it depends on what ingredients are used. Collagen can be helpful, for instance, but a healthy diet and adequate sleep also go a long way toward reducing eye puffiness and dark circles. I’m not sure this eye cream makes a noticeable difference, but it feels good to use it. I also use such a small amount each day that this little tube should last a while.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Supreme Hydrating Eye Cream contains hydrolyzed marine collagen, Manuka honey, hibiscus extract, and COQ10 (ubiqinone), as well as almond, argan, rosehip, and marula seed oils. It’s a product of New Zealand and was not tested on animals. It goes on easily with no greasy feeling, has very little fragrance, and is a fraction of the cost of many other eye creams on the market. If you use eye cream, you might want to give this one a try.

  1. I used the Trader Joes eye cream today…around the eyes and within two hours there was itching and ugly swelling of one eyelid. Am getting some relief from cold compresses. Any other advice?
    Disappointing experience.
