Welby Adult Gummy Multivitamins + Welby Children’s Gummy Vitamins

My family used to take vitamins on a regular basis, and I took them religiously throughout my pregnancies. In the years since, though, we’ve read an increasing amount of research indicating that the benefits of taking a multivitamin may be overstated. (One exception is pregnant women or women planning to conceive, who should take a prenatal vitamin with folic acid to reduce the risk of birth defects.) There is no substitute for eating a healthy and balanced diet and being physically active, so keep that in mind if you choose to take a multivitamin.

Multivitamins are readily available at big box stores, grocery stores, pharmacies, and even Aldi. The discount grocery store sells gummy vitamins for both adults and children alongside some other health supplements. (During a recent Aldi shopping trip, I spotted gummy melatonin supplements, gummy elderberry supplements, apple cider vinegar gummies, vitamin D gummies, and fish oil supplements, among other choices.)

Vitamins at Aldi are sold under the store’s Welby brand, which is not a company but rather is the private label Aldi uses for various health and wellness products. Welby products we’ve spotted at Aldi through the years include blood pressure monitors, allergy pills, lens cleaning wipes, thermometers, pulse oximeters, disposable face masks, squatty potties, and acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

Welby Adult Gummy MultiVite Complete Adult Multivitamins and Welby Children’s Gummy Vitamins each cost $6.69 per bottle at the time of publication. There are 150 vitamins in the adult bottle and 190 vitamins in the children’s bottle, and that comes out to roughly 4 cents per vitamin.

Both of the bottles state that these are comparable to vitafusion Multivites and vitafusion Children’s Multivites. Vitafusion Multivites for adults cost $11.88 for a bottle of 150 at Walmart at the time of publication, or around 8 cents per vitamin. That’s about twice the cost per vitamin compared to the Aldi Welby vitamins. I couldn’t find vitafusion Children’s Multivites for sale anywhere, so I don’t have a price comparison for those, but I’m guessing they would cost similar to the name-brand vitafusion adult vitamins. That makes the Aldi vitamins the better deal in terms of cost.

These are a Regular Buy, so you should be able to find them at Aldi any time.

If you’re on medications, have a health condition, or are pregnant or nursing, the bottles recommend talking with your doctor before taking these vitamins.

I have spotted stickers on the vitamin and supplement cases in Aldi that state the gummies are from a vendor called Vita Warehouse based in New York. These appear to be produced by VitaGlobe, a manufacturer of health and beauty products.

I have been taking the adult gummy vitamins along with a teenager in my household, while I’ve been giving the children’s vitamins to an older elementary child in the house. Everyone looks forward to getting their daily gummy or gummies (kids get one, adults get two), and these taste really good. I’ve had some gummy vitamins in the past that had a distinct vitamin-like taste that didn’t sit well with me. These have unique fruity flavors and taste very much like gummy candy, with no strange aftertaste.

The only complaint my teenager has is that the kids get to eat cute gummy bear-shaped vitamins, while the adult vitamins are more plain-looking with a cylinder shape and a raspberry-like top.

While I don’t know that I’ll continue to buy these vitamins, they have been a fun addition to our morning routine while they last.

Welby Adult Gummy MultiVite Complete Adult Multivitamins:

These come in berry, peach, and orange flavors. The bottle claims two of these gummies provide as much vitamin A as one cup of broccoli, as much vitamin C as one tangerine, and as much vitamin D as 5 ounces of salmon.

The directions indicated to take two gummy vitamins per day and to chew thoroughly before swallowing.

These contain 20 calories per serving, along with 5 grams of total carbohydrates (2% DV) and 5 grams of added sugars (10% DV). They contain 50% of your daily value of vitamin A, 40% of your required vitamin C, 125% of required vitamin D, 100% of required vitamin E, 50% of required niacin, 100% of required vitamin B-6, 100% of required folate, 200% of vitamin B-12, 100% of required biotin, and 60% of required pantothenic acid.

They’re gluten free and do not contain soy, wheat, milk, egg, crustacean shellfish, or peanuts. They also contain no preservatives or artificial colors. Other ingredients include glucose syrup, glucose, pectin, citric acid, sodium citrate, natural peach flavor, natural orange flavor, natural strawberry flavor, vegetable oil, and beta-carotene and purple carrot juice concentrate.

Welby Children’s Gummy Vitamins:

These come in cherry, berry, and citrus flavors. The bottle claims the vitamins inside offer eye support (vitamin A), cell support (vitamin B-6 and B-12), antioxidants (vitamin C and E), bone support (vitamin D3), and choline.

The directions indicate that parents may give a child one gummy bear vitamin supplement per day. Instruct the child to chew the gummy bear vitamin carefully and thoroughly.

These contain 10 calories per serving, along with 2 grams of total carbohydrates (1% DV) and 2 grams of added sugars (4% DV). They contain 35% of your daily value of vitamin A, 11% of your required vitamin C, 25% of your vitamin D, 25% of your vitamin D, 59% of your vitamin B-6, 29% of your folate, 125% of your vitamin B-12, 100% of your biotin, 52% of your pantothenic acid, less than 2% of your choline, 14% of your iodine, and 12% of your zinc.

These are gluten free and do not contain soy, wheat, milk, egg, crustacean shellfish, or peanuts. They also contain no preservatives or artificial colors.

The Verdict:

Welby Adult Gummy MultiVite Complete Adult Multivitamins and Welby Children’s Gummy Vitamins are comparable to name-brand vitafusion MultiVites vitamins for adults and kids. They cost about half of what the vitafusion supplements cost, and these vitamins taste good with no weird aftertaste. They offer your usual ingredients found in vitamin supplements, including vitamins C, A, D, E, B-6, B-12, and folate. While there is no substitute for a healthy lifestyle that includes a nutritious diet and exercise, if you take vitamin supplements, the Aldi versions are worth checking out.
