Nestled in the middle of a typical Aldi grocery store, one can find a modest little health and hygiene section. This section includes things like soap, face wash, razors, and dental products, but it also plays host to a small lineup of health-related items, including vitamins.
Among these various items is, of all things, the Aldi equivalent of the allergy spray Flonase.
Welby Fluticasone Nasal Spray is a Regular Buy, meaning you can find it in Aldi all the time. The spray runs $6.99 for a bottle with 60 metered sprays, or about 11.6 cents a spray. In the past, I’ve seen this medication at Walmart and Dollar General both for about $12.50 for 120 metered sprays — 10.4 cents a spray — so you might do some price comparison before you get this all the time from Aldi.
This medicine is the generic equivalent of Flonase, a corticosteriod that used to require a prescription. In 2014, however, the FDA approved the drug for over-the-counter use, so it can now be found easily. It’s primarily used to treat allergies.
According to the insert in the box, this medication is manufactured by Perrigo, a drug company that makes, among other things, generic equivalents. (Perrigo was founded in the U.S. and still runs its operations here, but it relocated to Ireland in 2013 to avoid paying U.S. corporate taxes.) Of note, I’ve purchased this medicine from Dollar General, and Perrigo also makes the DG stuff — the inserts are even the same.

The medication comes with instructions, which you should read carefully prior to use. The instructions are big and easy-to-follow, so as long as you pay attention, you shouldn’t have any problems. It has particularly important instructions for first use, as well as dosage guidelines based on age and time.

I’ve used a few varieties of generic Flonase from different places, and I’d say this one performs about up to par with the rest. The pump works the way it’s supposed to, and the medicine appears to function the way it’s designed to.
The Verdict:
If you have need to use Flonase or its generic equivalent, Aldi offers a reliable option. The pump works as designed and gives the same medical effect you’d get from getting the medication from other stores. Keep in mind, though, that Aldi health products aren’t always cheaper than other stores, so you might want to compare prices on this one, especially if you plan to use it long-term.
