Aldi Men’s and Ladies Holiday Pajama Pant

Last Updated on July 5, 2019

In the late fall, as holiday season approaches, Aldi is known to drop cold-weather clothing into its limited-run Special Buy (ALDI Finds) section: gloves, coats, sweat pants, scarves, you name it. At the same time, Aldi also shelves a lot of Christmas-related stuff, too.

These pajamas do a little bit of both.

Mens and Ladies Holiday Pajama Pant

This is actually the second pair of Aldi pajamas we’ve reviewed. The first, the Royal Class Men’s Sleep Pant, was your more garden-variety sleepwear. These pajamas, on the other hand, are the sort of hideous-looking holiday fare that people like to wear on purpose for the same reason they wear ugly sweaters — because they’re sort of fun. (Of note, these pajama pants are a little less than the Royal Class pajama pants: $4.99 to the Royal Class’ $6.99.)

Unlike almost every other Aldi non-food Special Buy we’ve ever seen, there is no brand label for these. Not Royal Class, not Serra, and not Crane. They’re just Holiday Pajama Pants, and they come in men’s and women’s sizes. The packaging, which looks a lot like the Royal Class pajama packaging, claims that they match some kids’ pajamas, too, which refers to $7.99 Lily and Dan pajama sets with identical print that Aldi sold around the same time as these.

So these are unbranded, have similar packaging to Royal Class pajamas, but look like Lily and Dan kids’ pants. Everybody got that straight?

The men’s holiday pants come in three sizes …

  • Medium (M): waist size 32-34
  • Large (L): waist size 36-38
  • Extra Large (XL): waist size 40-42

While the ladies holiday pants come in these three sizes …

  • Medium (M): size 8-10
  • Large (L): size 12-14
  • Extra Large: size 16-18

Both come in different styles and in both a flannel and microfleece texture, although we found certain sizes were limited in what styles you could get.

Like several other Aldi pants we’ve looked at, these pajamas were made in Bangladesh and are certified “Standard 100” by OEKO-TEK, which tests for harmful substances in textiles. The pants are 100% cotton and call for machine washing with cold water with like colors and tumbling dry on low heat.

I tried out the men’s medium pants. They come with a drawstring, pockets, and a button fly. The inseam is 32 inches (I wear pants with a 30 inch inseam) so depending on your height these may run a bit long or short. This is very similar in dimensions to the medium versions of the Royal Class Sweat Pants and Royal Class Pajama Sleep Pants … and given that the packaging for all three looks similar, we’re guessing the same manufacturer made all three.

The holiday pants are comfortable enough, being made of cotton. But they also feel slightly thinner than the Royal Class sleep pants, so in terms of warmth they may be slightly inferior. On the other hand, they’re also $2 cheaper, so perhaps you get what you pay for.

The Verdict:

For a mere $5, you, too, can wear a pair of intentionally ugly pajama pants from Aldi. They’re not quite as thick as some other pajama pants, and we don’t know how long they’ll last, but for something festive, you’re not likely to beat the price.
