Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Dip-N-Strips

Last Updated on January 16, 2019

Aldi is good at offering a variety of unique pizzas as rotating Special Buy items. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is the Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Dip-N-Strips pizza. These pizza strips come with marinara sauce and a garlic buttery sauce for dipping that reminds me of a certain national pizza chain establishment that includes little cups of garlic butter sauce in all of its pizza boxes. This Aldi pizza feels slightly indulgent, more like takeout pizza and not just a boxed product from the freezer section at the grocery store.

I often buy more than one of these whenever Aldi sells them. The box is thicker than a typical frozen pizza box, so make sure you have freezer space if you want to stock up on these.

The Dip-N-Strips have a thick crust and come with cheese topping or with pepperoni topping. They are made with 100% real cheese and have 0 grams of trans fat.

To prepare, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Remove the Dip-N-Strips from the box and from the film overwrap and place on a large baking sheet or pizza pan. Bake for 16-19 minutes or until cheese is melted and edges are golden brown. While the pizza is baking, place the frozen packets of marinara and garlic buttery sauces in a bowl of hot water.

When the pizza is done baking, let it sit for a few minutes to cool. The pizza is pre-scored, so once it is cool enough to safely handle, you can carefully tear it into strips or “sticks” with your hands, or you can separate the pieces by gently cutting along the scored lines with a pizza cutter or spatula. It takes a little practice to learn how to properly tear the pizza into strips; it can be slightly messy and you have to be careful not to pull cheese off neighboring strips of pizza.

Before eating, empty the packets of sauce into small bowls or ramekins so you can dip the pizza strips. After putting my sauces into bowls, I prefer to heat them for 20-30 seconds in the microwave. Keep an eye on the sauce if you microwave it, as it will pop and splatter if you heat it for too long.

One serving is three “sticks,” and each pizza serves about 5 people. One pizza is plenty for my family of four, which includes two children. We usually have two to four “sticks” left over after eating a Dip-N-Strips pizza for dinner.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Dip-N-Strips pizza, with marinara sauce for dipping and garlic buttery sauce for dipping, is a treat that tastes more like delivery pizza than frozen grocery store pizza. The garlic butter dipping sauce reminds me of the sauce cups that come with Papa John’s pizza. It may be a little messy and it can be tricky to separate this pre-scored pizza into individual strips, but this pizza still comes highly recommended.
