Earth Grown Vegan Asian Veggie Burger

Aldi recently introduced a new Earth Grown vegan line of products that includes meatless hot dogs, soy burgers, and chickenless patties or tenders. I’m not vegan, but I am a fan of veggie burgers, so I picked up a few varieties to try. I’ve already looked at Earth Grown Vegan Southwest Quinoa Crunch Veggie Burgers. Today, I’m looking at the Earth Grown Vegan Asian Veggie Burgers.

Earth Grown Vegan Asian Veggie Burger

The Asian Veggie Burger features a vegan patty made with brown rice, water chestnuts, carrots, peas, red peppers, broccoli, and soy sauce.

These burgers are sold frozen, with four 2.5-ounce burgers to a box. The ingredients list features: cooked brown rice, onions, water chestnuts, expeller pressed canola oil, oat bran, wheat gluten, carrots, peas, red peppers, scallions, broccoli, dehydrated soy sauce, ginger, roasted garlic, cilantro, rice vinegar, brown sugar, potato flakes, sesame oil, and black pepper.

Earth Grown Vegan Asian Veggie Burger

These Asian Veggie Burgers were good. I could taste the rice and water chestnuts, and seasonings were just right. The burger also has a good amount of crispiness, especially around the edges. It seemed to hold together without falling apart much better than the Earth Grown Vegan Southwest Quinoa Crunch Veggie Burgers, too.

They’re advertised as being low in saturated fat and cholesterol free, with 130 calories, less than .5 grams of saturated fat, 300 mg of sodium, 2 grams of sugar, and 6 grams of protein per serving.

The burgers should stay frozen until you’re ready to use them. They can be prepared in the oven, toaster oven, skillet, or microwave. The oven is the preferred method, and that’s how I prepared my veggie burgers.

To prepare in the oven, preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place frozen burgers on an ungreased baking pan. Bake approximately 7 minutes until browned. Carefully flip and cook an additional 5 minutes until heated through and well browned.

To prepare in the toaster oven, preheat on broil. Place frozen burgers on an ungreased tray. Broil approximately 7 minutes. Carefully flip and cook an additional 5 minutes until heated through and well browned.

To prepare in the skillet, preheat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook until first side is browned, approximately 7 minutes. Carefully flip and cook an additional 5 minutes. Continue cooking, flipping as necessary, until heated through and well browned.

To prepare in the microwave, place one burger on a microwave-safe plate. Cook on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Carefully flip and cook 1 additional minute. The burger should be hot throughout but will not brown.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Earth Grown Vegan Asian Veggie Burgers, part of a new product line featuring vegan foods, have good flavor and hold together well inside a bun. They’re a good healthy alternative to beef or meat-based burgers. Recommended.

  1. I didn’t realize it was even frozen when I bought it and put it in the fridge. Now three days later. Is it safe to eat?

  2. we love the Earth Grown Vegan patties , YOU MUST carry them all the time….Please

  3. These asian burgers had amazing flavor. My transitioning husband loved them and then they were discontinued. That’s the sucky part about Aldi’s specialty products, once they’re gone, they’re gone.
