Trader Joe’s Super Soft Bath Tissue

We wrote about one of the toilet paper options at Trader Joe’s years ago. It’s made from 100% recycled paper, which means it is about as environmentally friendly as toilet paper can get, but it’s also on the scratchy side.
However, there is another choice at Trader Joe’s when it comes to TP. It’s promoted as a “super soft” bath tissue.
Trader Joe’s Super Soft Bath Tissue cost $3.99 for six rolls at the time of writing. With a total of 221.7 square feet and 350 sheets per roll, that comes out to about 2 cents per square foot or just over 1 cent per sheet.
For comparison, the other TP option at Trader Joe’s — the 100% recycled two-play Trader Joe’s Bath Tissue — cost $4.99 at the time of writing for 12 rolls (316.6 square feet, with 250 sheets per roll). That also comes out to about 2 cents per square foot or about 2 cents per sheet.
For further price comparison, a 12-pack of Walmart Great Value Ultra Soft Toilet Paper cost about 4 cents per square foot at the time of writing. A 12-pack of Angel Soft Toilet Paper at Target cost about 2 cents per square foot. So the Trader Joe’s Super Soft Bath Tissue appears to be competitively priced.
The TJ’s Super Soft Bath Tissue sheets are two-ply, and each sheet measures 3.8 inches by 4 inches. The package states that no chlorine bleach was used in the manufacturing of this toilet paper, and it is safe for septic tanks.
This toilet paper is also Forest Stewardship Council certified and its production supports responsible forestry.
My kids laughed at the funny language on the packaging, which states:
Do you have bathroom anxiety? Feeling like you’ll never find that perfect roll of bath tissue? The one that glides perfectly from the roll with grace and style? Time to relax. Your search is over. Trader Joe’s Super Soft Bath Tissue has the power to make your anxieties melt away. It’s super soft, living up to its name, and guaranteed to bring a smile with every use.
My kids repeatedly joked about “bathroom anxiety,” and while Trader Joe’s has always had a way with words and is a master at crafting quirky jokes in its product descriptions, this TP packaging stands out.
So how does this toilet paper feel and how does it hold up? It’s soft. In fact, it’s softer than the Willow So Soft toilet paper I usually buy at Aldi. It feels fairly luxurious and is good for daily use, or for stocking in your guest bathroom to keep visitors happy. Since the price isn’t bad, I’d buy this again on my next Trader Joe’s run.
The only downsides are that the rolls aren’t as large as some other brands, but they’re also bigger than some other toilet paper brands I’ve tried. Also, you can only buy this in a six-pack, so it’s not as easy to stock up on large quantities.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Super Soft Bath Tissue is the more comfy of the two toilet paper options at Trader Joe’s. It’s true to its name and feels soft and plush. The rolls are slightly on the small side, and this only comes in a six-pack and nothing family-sized. Still, it’s good toilet paper.
