The Village PieMaker Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and Apple Pie

I have a friend who I would consider an Aldi superfan. She has an entire collection of clothing emblazoned with the Aldi logo, and she shows up early for grand openings of new Aldi stores in our area. She and I frequently cross paths on Wednesday mornings when new specials hit the middle aisle, and she often points out her favorite products to me.

Last year, we both happened to be at Aldi first thing on a Wednesday morning. While I was passing by the Aldi Find freezer aisle, she held up a boxed frozen pie. She told me how people online said these pies by The Village PieMaker are very good. The strawberry rhubarb one is the best, she said, and it tends to sell out first, but the apple one is good, too. She added one of the strawberry rhubarb pies to her shopping bag.

I didn’t add any pie to my cart that morning, but I remembered what she said about this particular pie brand. A year later, when the same pies returned to my local Aldi store, I picked them up to serve for dessert during the holidays.

The Village PieMaker Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and The Village PieMaker Apple Pie are both Aldi Finds. That means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone until whenever Aldi decides to bring them back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for these if they’re out of stock at your local store.

These were most recently scheduled to be in Aldi stores the week of March 25th, 2026, while supplies last.

These pies were $14.95 each at Aldi when I bought them in late 2025. As of March of 2026, they’re the same price. They’re 3-pound pies, which comes out to about $4.99 per pound, or about 31 cents per ounce. Each pie claims to serve 10, which is around $1.50 per serving.

The Village PieMaker is not an Aldi house brand. It’s a company based in Omaha, Nebraska. You might find these pies at certain other retailers. In my area, a locally owned large upscale grocery store sells them in four different flavors for $14.99 each. I also found a couple of flavors selling for over $17 per pie on the website for Whole Foods.

You can also buy the pies online directly from The Village PieMaker, but they’re very expensive to purchase that way. They cost a whopping $64.50 per pie online as of March of 2026, or you could buy two or more pies, use a discount code, and get each pie for $44.50. If it’s any consolation, shipping and handling fees are included in those prices. You will find many more flavors online, including cherry, berry medley, blueberry, cranberry apple, chocolate silk, pumpkin, and more. I also spotted a few cheesecakes, some mini pies, and pie crusts online.

No matter which pie flavor you buy at Aldi — strawberry rhubarb or apple — the baking instructions are the same. Keep the pie frozen until you’re ready to bake it.

To bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Remove the frozen pie from the plastic and place the pie on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 75-90 minutes or until golden brown. Ensure the pie is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Carefully remove the pie from the oven. It will be hot! Allow one hour to cool. Cover and refrigerate any leftover pie. Enjoy within three days of baking.

Let’s take a closer look at these pies.

The Village PieMaker Strawberry Rhubarb Pie:

I made the strawberry rhubarb pie on Thanksgiving, and it was a hit with the family. It has a sweet tart flavor that is unique compared to other pie flavors. While these pies are on the expensive side, I’d definitely buy the strawberry rhubarb flavor again because it’s not the easiest pie flavor to find, and this one is really good.

The Village PieMaker Apple Pie:

I served the apple pie on Christmas Day. It’s your classic apple pie. It’s good, but I’m not sure it was such a standout that I’d spend extra on it again.

The Verdict:

The Village PieMaker Pies are occasional specials at Aldi, and they’re typically available in strawberry rhubarb and apple varieties. (You’ll find more flavors on The Village PieMaker’s website, and possibly at other retailers.) We baked the strawberry rhubarb pie for Thanksgiving and it was fantastic. We made the apple pie on Christmas Day, and it was good as well.

  1. We’ve tried a couple flavors of these pies. The Apple was good, but not fantastic. The Strawberry/Rhubard was a hit! Great balance of tart/sweet. We’ll watch for that one to come in again.G

  2. The strawberry rhubarb pie is incredible! I can’t say enough good things about it! Lots of rhubarb and strawberries. I really dare anyone to be able to tell the difference between this pie and homemade. I certainly can’t! They do sell out quickly,so grab one while you can. Certainly worth the price!
