Barissimo Madagascar Vanilla Flavor Coffee Concentrate

I love a good iced coffee. I also like supporting local coffee shops. But frequent coffee shop drinks aren’t in my budget.

That’s where Aldi comes in. The discount grocer sells various ready-made iced coffees in different sizes. I’m a fan of the cartons of caramel macchiato iced coffee. Aldi also offers single-serve glasses of Starbucks-style drinks.

I also recently discovered some bottles of coffee concentrate. They come in plain or Madagascar vanilla flavor options. I decided to pick up the vanilla one to try.

Barissimo Madagascar Vanilla Flavor Coffee Concentrate appears to be a Regular Buy or core range item. That means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year. It’s stocked among the other room-temperature coffees.

We buy Aldi products for review using our own funds. I paid $6.49 for a 32-ounce bottle in 2026. That comes out to about 20 cents per ounce. This makes several glasses of iced coffee for roughly the price of a single iced coffee at a coffee shop.

The bottle describes this as medium roast and smooth and creamy. It is kosher.

Ingredients are water, arabica coffee, and natural flavors.

One 6-ounce serving has 15 calories, 3 grams of total carbohydrates (1% DV), and less than 1 gram of protein. Keep in mind, of course, that the calories, carbs, and sugar content will change if you add creamer or sweeteners.

For a “classic cup,” the bottle states to fill a glass with ice. Pour 6 ounces of the coffee concentrate over the ice. Add 6 ounces of water, and enjoy.

To prepare a larger serving, use a 1:1 ratio of water and coffee concentrate.

To “make it yours,” as the label states, you can optionally add milk or sugar to “bring out even more flavor.”

Following the directions and using 6 ounces of concentrate plus 6 ounces of water, in addition to any creamer you might want to use, makes for a large glass of iced coffee. I ended up splitting it between two glasses. You don’t have to use 6 ounces of concentrate as the directions indicate, if that is too big of a serving for you. Simply use equal parts concentrate and water to make a drink in the size you prefer. You might use just 4 ounces of concentrate and 4 ounces of water, for instance.

How it Tastes:

This makes a pretty good cup of iced coffee. It has mild vanilla notes, and it tastes good on its own. I prefer to add some creamer for a bit of creaminess and sweetness. (I used some Barissimo Delightfully Pure Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer.)

I’ll be buying more of this. I might also try the plain flavor next time, and I’ll doctor it with creamer. I expect it to be as good as the vanilla one.

The Verdict:

Barissimo Madagascar Vanilla Flavor Coffee Concentrate is an easy way to make iced coffee at home on a budget. Simply mix equal parts concentrate with water, pour over ice, add cream or sugar as desired, and serve. This concentrate also comes in a plain variety if that’s more your style. We like the vanilla one and will be picking up more, and we plan to try the plain version as well.
