Fremont Fish Market Salmon Burgers

EDITOR’S NOTE: We think these used to be a Regular Buy available at Aldi year round, but at some point it appears Aldi made them a Seasonal Item, which means they’re not sold all year. We tend to find these in stores during the warmer months.

Aldi’s seafood options include plenty of salmon, ranging from fresh to frozen. If you’re looking for easy, convenient seafood, the grocer’s Fremont Fish Market salmon burgers may be a good choice. These salmon burgers come in two flavors: teriyaki and chipotle.

As mentioned above in our editor’s note, Aldi salmon burgers used to be Regular Buys, meaning they were in stores all the time, but at some point Aldi started stocking them only occasionally. In our local stores, they appear to be a Seasonal Item available during the spring and summer months.

They are sold frozen. When we recently bought these in the summer of 2025, they cost $5.99 for an 11.2-ounce package containing four salmon burgers. That’s up from the $4.99 we paid when we first reviewed these in 2019. As of 2025, these cost about 53 cents per ounce, or about $1.59 per salmon burger.

The salmon burgers are wild caught and certified sustainable through the Marine Stewardship Council. They were caught in the Northeast Pacific using seine/gill net methods. They were made in the U.S. of U.S. and imported ingredients.

The main ingredient is pink and/or keta salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha and/or Oncorhynchus keta). Keta salmon, also known as chum salmon, has a reputation as a lower-quality fish, but it can be a good-tasting fish depending on when it’s caught, and its population has not struggled in recent years like the popular Chinook salmon.

The salmon burgers can be prepared in four ways: grilling, baking in a conventional oven, baking in a convection oven, or pan frying. I usually bake my salmon burgers in a conventional oven because it’s the most convenient option, and they turn out fine, but I’ve also grilled them and pan fried them, and that works well, too. If you grill these, be sure to oil the grill well or they’ll stick.

To grill the salmon burgers, preheat the grill to medium heat (350 degrees Fahrenheit) and cook for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes on each side.

To bake in a conventional oven preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place frozen burgers on a lightly greased baking sheet, and cook for 7 to 8 minutes on each side.

To heat in a convection oven, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place frozen burgers on a lightly greased baking sheet, and cook for 7 to 7 1/2 minutes on each side.

To pan fry, place the frozen burgers in a lightly oiled pan and cook over low heat for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes on each side.

Microwave cooking is not recommended. Regardless of the cooking method, the salmon burgers should reach an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees.

The packaging states that they “strive to produce a fully ‘boneless’ product. As with all fish, however, occasional bones may still be present.” I haven’t found any bones yet in the salmon burgers I’ve eaten.

Cooked chipotle salmon burgers at top, teriyaki salmon burger at bottom. We cook these in a variety of ways, and here we grilled them.

These salmon burgers are good. Neither of them is strongly flavored. The teriyaki burgers have a faint sweet taste that is classic teriyaki, but they’re not overly sweet. The chipotle burgers have a slight kick, but they’re not really spicy.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Fremont Fish Market salmon burgers come in teriyaki or chipotle flavors, and both are good. They’re easy to prepare and flavorful, and the chipotle flavor has some heat but is not spicy. They’re good served on buns with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and sliced onion, or serve them atop a salad for a lighter, low-carb meal.

      1. Figures now that they have me hooked on the salmon burgers I Can’t find them in Florida either. 😞

  1. I join the customers who are frustrated that the Fremont salmon burgers aren’t available at Aldi’s.

  2. I bought the chipolte version of thise in April 2026. I was hoping for a good substitute to the Trident brand salmon patties from costco, and I will say that I am fairly underwhelmed by the Fremont product.
They re a bit smaller then the Trident brand per patty, and, to be honest, I cant taste any chipolte pepper flavoring in them. The are also packed in a non-sealed bag inside of the box, as I could squeeze air out of the bag once taken from the box, and no cutting tools were used to open the box as well. It looks like I am keeping the Trident brand ones of these and taking a pass on the Fremont product.
