Ambiano LED Rain Drop Humidifier

Something Aldi sells a lot of during the winter months is humidifiers. It’s no wonder, considering that dry winter air can wreak havoc with skin, nasal passages and throats, eyes, and even hair. You can buy a small humidifier without spending too much money, and it can make a difference in a bedroom, living area, office space, or wherever you want some relief.

Aldi has already sold at least one humidifier leading into the winter season this year.

A recent ad for the grocer featured another humidifier. This time, it’s one I’ve never seen Aldi sell before, and it’s unique enough that I was intrigued. This model features a rainfall effect. It not only helps to add moisture to the air, but it also offers peaceful waterfall sounds and includes LED lights.

The Ambiano LED Rain Drop Humidifier is an Aldi Find. That means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is out of stock at your local store.

This was scheduled to be in stores December 10th, 2025.

The rain drop humidifier cost $19.99 in 2025. That’s less than similar humidifiers I found on Amazon.

Here’s more information, according to Aldi:

  • Rain drop effect creates a relaxing atmosphere
  • Includes color-changing LED lights
  • USB-C powered (cord included)
  • Features built-in automatic shutoff

The rain drop humidifier comes in your choice of two cloud colors: white or green. I bought the white.

This is sold under the Ambiano brand. That’s not a manufacturer or company. Rather, it’s the name Aldi puts on various home goods it sells, which it sources from different suppliers.

Unboxing the Rain Drop Humidifier:

What comes in the box.

When you open the box, you’ll find the humidifier base with a clear plastic cover and the “cloud” top. There’s also a user manual and a USB power cord.

Note: you’ll need to use your own electrical plug that takes a USB cord. The plug itself is not included. I find that kind of annoying that this isn’t ready to use right out of the box, and I had to look around the house to find a plug.

How to Use and Clean the Rain Drop Humidifier:

The manual recommends using purified water in this humidifier. To fill the tank, remove the cloud cover and the transparent cover. Fill the water tank with cool water. (Don’t use warm or hot water.) Replace the cloud cover and transparent cover.

Then, tap the button with the light symbol on the left once to provide ambient lighting, twice to turn on a “breathing light” that automatically cycles through different colors on repeat. Or, press the button again repeatedly to cycle through seven individual color options if you want the light to remain one color.

There is also the middle button with a water drop symbol. Press it once for heavy rain mode, twice for light rain mode, or a third time to turn the rain mode off.

Finally, the button on the far right with the letter “M” is the mist button. Press it once to turn on a mist feature. The manual also indicates this button activates a four-hour automatic stop.

To clean the tank, unplug the humidifier and empty it. Remove the transparent co er and fill the base with 2 cups of undiluted distilled white vinegar. Place the transparent cover back on, and let it soak for 20 minutes. Then, empty it and gently scrub with a soft cloth or brush to clean and remove any mineral buildup. Gently rinse with clean water.

Our Thoughts:

We generally like this humidifier. It looks cool, and the sound of falling water is nice.

The holes where the rain drops fall out of don’t always put out water automatically like they’re supposed to. Sometimes, I have to run my finger over a few holes to get water to come out. I’m not quite sure why that is, since I haven’t used it long enough at this point for mineral buildup to happen.

It also doesn’t put out much mist.

Otherwise, though, I’m glad I bought this. I’ve got it set up in my living room where it can help with dry air, and it adds a general aura of relaxation.

The Verdict:

The Ambiano Rain Drop Humidifier is a fun limited-time find at Aldi. It features a cool rainfall effect with mist and colored lights. Guaranteed to add ambiance to any space, along with some much-needed moisture during the dry winter months. It has some minor quirks, but overall we like it and would buy it again.

UPDATE (1/13/2026) — We used this regularly for a few weeks and then began having issues with the rain drop feature randomly stopping after it had been running for a few minutes. We added some salt, per readers’ suggestions, and it seemed to perform better. However, the mist feature — which was weak to begin with — stopped working completely. Finally, the light began to flicker whenever the humidifier was turned on. We eventually gave up on this humidifier and switched back to using an old reliable model we already owned.

  1. It worked for about 4 minutes, then nothing…It blinks red. I read on Reddit to add a pinch of salt (as this happened to several people and they emailed the company) It worked for them, not for me. I will probably just order something similar on Amazon.

  2. I had the same trouble as others and it kept shutting off after blinking red. Like someone mentioned, I added a pinch of salt. I just kept pushing start immediately after it shut off, maybe 3-4 more times, and it worked after that. Thanks for the review. My kids and I are loving it. We have a wood heat stove as our only source of heat in the home and it gets really dry in our house. Thankfully it’s a small home so this humidifier should help a lot.

  3. Can’t seem to find anyone else having this particular issue that I am having. I am having build up in the upper part of the stem near the LED light and the buildup is on the interior of the stem. I unscrewed all of the screwed parts to see if I could remove the stem and even unscrewed the upper portion near the LED light to see if I could get to the inside of the stem somehow. However, there seems to be no way to get to the inside of the stem no matter how hard I try. The cleaning instructions in the manual only work to clean the bottom portion of the tank. There is no way to get the vinegar up to the stem and I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere that you cannot be running a humidifier with vinegar to clean, because it will damage/corrode the machinery. Does anyone have a solution for this or figure out how to get to the inside of the stem?
