Crofton Silicone Stretch Lids and Seals

For a few years, I’ve been eyeing some silicone seals that Aldi occasionally sells. They function as an alternative to disposable plastic wrap, also sometimes known as Saran wrap or cling film. I try to limit single-use plastic in my house when I can, and the reusable silicone seals looked like one way to do that.

I finally bought a package of the seals when they showed up again recently on the shelves at Aldi. The grocer was also selling a few other silicone lids made to fit different types of containers. In addition to the basic seals, I also bought a set of round silicone lids in varying sizes. There were also silicone lids for loaf pans and silicone lids for casserole dishes, but I didn’t buy those.

We bought these with our own money for review purposes. I paid $2 per package in 2024. Each pack contained three lids. That comes out to around 67 cents per lid.

I found multi-packs of stretch lids on Amazon for the same price or a bit less, although they’re all a little different and may not be exact comparisons to the Aldi lids and seals.

These are Aldi Finds, which means they’re in stores for just a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and they’re gone after that sells out. Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering if these are out of stock at your local store.

These are dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and suitable for freezing. When used in the microwave, you should roll back one edge to ventilate. They’re heat resistant to 446 degrees and cold resistant to -40 degrees.

The stretch lid set I bought contained one 3-inch, one 5-inch, and one 6.75-inch reusable lid.

The stretch seal set had one 6.3-inch, one 8.6-inch, and one 11.4-inch reusable seal.

These are both nice sets. The stretch seals are thin, somewhat delicate, and fairly sticky. They cling easily to themselves, and to whatever bowl or container you want to cover, and they look like they seal well.

The lids are thicker, with defined edges that hang down over the sides of whatever bowl you want to cover. They seem to offer a good seal.

I tried both the lids and seals on some bowls I already own, including an older Corningware bowl whose original plastic lid cracked and got thrown away long ago. It’s good to have lids that now fit that bowl. I also tried the lids and seals on some clear glass Anchor Hocking bowls I own. In all cases, the lids and seals were good fits.

I’m looking forward to using these and reducing our consumption of single-use sheets of plastic wrap.

The Verdict:

Crofton Silicone Stretch Lids and Seals come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit various bowls, loaf pans, and casserole dishes. We bought a set of round lids, as well as a set of seals that function similar to plastic wrap. Both sets fit well on small- to medium-sized bowls we already own. These look like a good, more sustainable way to easily cover food without having to use throwaway plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
