Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli: 3 Meat and Cheese
EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi sold this stromboli again the week of July 16th, 2025, for the same price of $2.99.
Stromboli is, according to Wikipedia, “a type of baked turnover filled with various Italian cheeses (typically mozzarella) and usually Italian cold cuts (typically meats such as salami, capocollo and bresaola) or vegetables, served hot. The dough used is either Italian bread dough or pizza dough.” It’s an Italian-American invention that traces its origins to Philadelphia, and today it is a niche entree in various Italian-themed restaurants across the United States.
Aldi routinely stocks ethnic foods, both as everyday Regular Buys and through its limited buy rotation. We’ve seen stromboli in some form or another on Aldi shelves, and when it recently made a return to the grocer, we grabbed one.
Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli: 3 Meat and Cheese is an Aldi Find. That means it can only be found in stores for a limited time. Once it’s sold out, you can’t order it online from Aldi. I found it in the store’s refrigerated section in a single clamshell package. In 2024, one 7-ounce stromboli cost $2.99. That’s the same price it cost in 2025.
The stromboli should be kept refrigerated until ready to heat.
The container offers three methods of preparation: oven, air fryer, and microwave. For the oven, the package says to preheat the oven to between 375-400 degrees Fahrenheit. (No, I’ve never seen instructions offer a temperature range before, either.) Then you place the black cooking tray in the clamshell — with the stromboli inside — on the center rack and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the center is 165 degrees.
For the air fryer, you set the air fryer to 300 degrees, then place the stromboli — without the black cooking tray — in the air fryer and cook for 17-20 minutes, or until the center is 165 degrees.
For the microwave, the instructions say to place the stromboli inside the black cooking tray, with the stromboli inside, in the microwave and heat for 1 1/2 minutes, or until center is warm. Then let cool and serve.
I figured most people would opt for speed, so I went with the microwave.
I liked it. I thought there was ample meat and cheese, and while I sacrificed some crispiness to use the microwave, I still thought the taste was good enough. It was soft enough to cut easily with a fork, and overall it was a flavorful stromboli.
That’s good news, too, because this thing has plenty of note in the nutrition and ingredients list. A single stromboli delivers 520 calories, 23 grams of fat (29% of your recommended daily value), 9 grams of saturated fat (45% DV), 60 milligrams of cholesterol (20% DV), and a hefty 1,500 milligrams of sodium (65% DV). The ingredients list is long and begins with unbleached what flour. The package lists two allergens, milk and wheat.

The Verdict:
Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli — the 3 meat version, specifically — is a tasty pastry that can be heated in the microwave, oven, or air fryer. We liked the flavor, and this includes ample filling. It’s also a highly processed food that is high in the likes of fat and sodium, which makes it, in our view, more of a sometimes food. And since this is an Aldi Find, it’s only around for a little while anyway.
