Specially Selected Thai Green Seafood Curry
I love seafood, and I love curry. So when Aldi advertised some seafood curries recently, I added them to my shopping list. They were sold in a mixed case that includes a shrimp masala seafood curry and a Thai green seafood curry.
Here, we’re taking a look at the Thai green seafood curry. The package describes this as “shrimp, pollock and scallops in a coconut, lemongrass and ginger sauce topped with scallions and red chilies.”
Specially Selected Thai Green Seafood Curry is an Aldi Find. That means it’s in stores for a short time only. Each store should receive one shipment, and it’s gone after that sells out. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is out of stock at your local store.
This was scheduled to be available starting March 4th, 2026, while supplies last.
I paid $7.99 for a 12-ounce package in 2026. That comes out to about 67 cents per ounce. We buy Aldi products to review with our own money.
This is sold under the Specially Selected brand. That’s not a manufacturer or company. It’s the name Aldi puts on gourmet types of food it sells, which it sources from various suppliers.
This is a product of the United Kingdom. The scallops in this meal were wild caught in catch area FAO 41 using the trawl method. The shrimp were farmed in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. The pollock was wild caught in catch area FAO 61 and 67 using the trawl method. The package states the shrimp come from farms that have been independently certified to Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s standard for responsibly farmed seafood. The scallops and pollock come from fisheries that have been independently certified to the Marine Stewardship Council’s environmental standard for fishing.

Cooking Directions:

This cooks from frozen. It’s packaged in a foil pan, so it’s not suitable for microwave cooking. To bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Remove the cardboard sleeve and film top from the foil tray. Place the tray in the oven on a rack in the middle position. Bake for 25 minutes, stirring the product 20 minutes into the cooking time. Let stand for 2-3 minutes before serving.
The package advises that this may contain small pieces of shell and bone. Also, this contains raw fish and shellfish and must be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
This took longer than the package directions indicated to cook. Some of the fish cubes were still a little cold after baking for 25 minutes, even thought I stirred it well at the 20-minute mark, as instructed. I baked it for another 5 minutes, checked it again, and baked it for 5 additional minutes to be sure it was up to temperature. So, I baked this for a total of 35 minutes.
Our Thoughts:

Our taste testers didn’t like this dish as much as the shrimp masala one sold in the same mixed case. This one is fine. It’s not really spicy. We didn’t feel like it had as much flavor as some other Thai green curries we’ve tried. It does have sweet notes from the coconut, and the pollock is mildly fishy-tasting. We thought the scallops and shrimp in this were good.
This was good, but not good enough that I’d spend $8 on it again.
The Verdict:
Specially Selected Thai Green Seafood Curry features shrimp, scallops, and pollock in a creamy coconut sauce. It’s not spicy, and it’s mildly sweet. This is fine, if a little light on flavor for a Thai green curry. We prefer the shrimp masala curry Aldi sold alongside this.
