Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast Super Premium Ice Cream

I’ve long been a tea drinker and have disliked coffee, but certain coffee products have grown on me over the years. I still don’t care for traditional coffee. I’ve tried. But I do like cappuccino, and iced vanilla coffees from a local cafe, and a Maple Espresso Black Tea Blend from Trader Joe’s. I’ve also come to like certain iced coffees from Aldi.

So when I spotted some coffee ice cream at Trader Joe’s, which is a cousin to Aldi, I decided to go for it.

Trader Joe's Coffee Bean Blast Super Premium Ice Cream

Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast Super Premium Ice Cream cost $4.49 for a 1-quart (946-mL) container at the time of writing. With six servings per container, that comes out to about 75 cents per serving.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk and eggs.

The full ingredients list is cream, milk, cane sugar, coffee, sugared egg yolks (egg yolks, sugar), coffee beans, cocoa processed with alkali, stabilizer blend (carob bean gum, guar gum, and cane sugar). Yes, it does contain some processed ingredients, but at least they seem minimal.

Because this does contain coffee beans, I’m sure it has some caffeine, but I don’t know how much. I tried not to eat this too late into the evening for that reason, or if I did have some in the evening, I kept the portions small.

This is kosher certified.

Look closely and you can see the coffee bean bits.

This ice cream is terrific if you are a coffee fan to any degree. It has a creaminess that perfectly balances the bitter coffee notes. It’s definitely coffee-flavored, and it has tiny visible bits of ground coffee beans, so if you can’t stand coffee, this is not the ice cream for you. My family — none of whom like coffee — tried this and didn’t care for it, which meant I got to enjoy the entire quart myself, though not all at once. This is good enough I’d buy it again.

The Verdict:

Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast Super Premium Ice Cream features a fantastic blend of cream, milk, sugar, and coffee. It even has small visible pieces of ground-up coffee beans that help amp up the flavor. It’s perfect for coffee lovers. I’m not even a huge fan of coffee, but I enjoyed this ice cream.
