Trader Joe’s “PB&J” Snack Duo

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a staple in my household. They’re good for school or work lunches. They’re what I let the pickier eaters make for themselves if they don’t care for what’s being served for dinner (after first eating a few obligatory “no, thank you” bites). Some family members enjoy a PB&J sandwich simply as a snack.

So when I spotted some PB&J snacks at Trader Joe’s, they looked like just the thing my family would like. These snacks didn’t last long in my house.

The Trader Joe's "PB&J" Snack Duo

The Trader Joe’s “PB&J” Snack Duo cost $3.99 at the time of publication. One box contains six single-serving packs, so that comes out to about 67 cents per serving.

The box describes these as “crispy peanut butter filled wafer sticks with raspberry fruit dip.” They are a product of Greece and are kosher.

Ingredients in the peanut butter wafer sticks include peanut butter wafer, wheat flour, cane sugar, nonfat milk powder, sheanut oil, egg powder, sea salt, coconut oil, sunflower lecithin, natural flavors, invert sugar, and caramel color. The raspberry fruit dip includes glucose syrup, raspberries, and lemon juice concentrate.

If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain milk, egg, wheat, peanut, coconut, and sheanut. They may contain traces of soy, almond, and hazelnut.

A peek inside one of the peanut butter wafer sticks.

These snacks are good, although they contain a lot of added sugar, so they’re not something to indulge in all the time. They’re more like a dessert. The peanut butter wafer sticks are crispy, flaky, and light on the outside with a nice creamy peanut butter filling. The raspberry jam dip is fairly thick and complements the peanut butter sticks. There isn’t a lot of dip, but it’s enough. Each serving is on the large side (with 270 calories), so sometimes my husband and I shared a pack.

These are so sugary that I won’t buy them often, but they’ll definitely find their way into my shopping cart again at some point.

The Verdict:

The Trader Joe’s “PB&J” Snack Duo feature crispy, flaky peanut butter wafer sticks packaged with a sweet raspberry jam-like fruit dip. These are a fun twist on the classic peanut butter and jelly pairing. They have a lot of added sugar, so they’re best treated as a type of dessert. They’re packaged in a way that makes them easy to drop into lunch boxes or pack for a picnic. If you have PB&J fans in your house, these might be worth a try.

  1. I’ve bought them a few times. They are delicious but the wafer can be crumbly so eat them over a napkin or plate.
