Besides selling food, Aldi’s cousin Trader Joe’s sells a small selection of household products and toiletries. I’m a fan of their toilet paper, which is made from recycled paper, and I also like some of their body wash and facial cleanser. I often look for a new household product to try each time I shop at TJ’s, and one of the most recent items I picked up was a lemon room spray.
Trader Joe’s Super Lemon Room Spritz cost $1.99 for a 1.69-fluid oz. spray bottle at the time of publication.
This spray is a product of Australia and has lemon myrtle and spearmint oils in it. It was not tested on animals.
Ingredients are water, polysorbate 60, backhousia citriodora (lemon myrtle) oil, and mentha spicata (spearmint) oil.

I like that this contains natural, mostly recognizable ingredients. Polysorbate, by the way, is commonly used to help keep oil and water solutions mixed.
Before using, the instructions state to shake the bottle well. Then spritz in any room for instant freshening. Avoid spraying directly on surfaces.
Naturally, the bottle states this should be kept out of reach of children and pets. Spray away from the face, and avoid contact with eyes. If the spray gets in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
So how does it smell? It smells as advertised: lemony with strong notes of spearmint, and the sweet mint scent seems stronger than the lemon. Overall, this spray is refreshing and not overpowering.
When I initially tried it, two to three pumps was enough to lightly scent my small bathrooms, and I sprayed about three pumps in the bedrooms. When I went back into those rooms about 10 minutes later, a small amount of scent still lingered. I now keep the spray in my kitchen and use it sometimes after cooking to help freshen up the house. Everyone in my family likes it.
In the past I’ve used J.R. Watkins Lemon Room Freshener Spray, which I can get at Target for slightly less cost per ounce than the Trader Joe’s spray, although the Trader Joe’s spray has more easily identifiable ingredients and seems more natural. While the Trader Joe’s spray comes in a small bottle, it should hopefully last a long time, and I like the smell enough that I would consider buying it again.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Super Lemon Room Spritz contains natural lemon and spearmint oils and makes any room smell good. Recommended.
