Simply Nature Organic Tomato Basil Soup

EDITOR’S NOTE: We originally reviewed this in November of 2024. Aldi sold identical soup in early January of 2026 and in mid-February of 2026 for $2.29 for 18.6 ounces.

Tomato soup has been a favorite of mine since I was a child. I have fond memories of enjoying steaming bowls of Campbell’s Tomato Soup for lunch on days off school. I’d sit at the dining room table and linger over my soup bowl while reading a book or watching cartoons that played on the television in the nearby living room.

As an adult, I still like Campbell’s Tomato Soup. I also like to make homemade tomato soup from scratch.

In addition, I’m always willing to try different tomato soups at restaurants. This past summer, my family went to Disney World, where tomato basil soup is on the menu at many quick service restaurants. I ordered some when we picked up a quick dinner at the Boardwalk Deli one evening. The soup was pretty good, and it was the perfect complement to the chicken salad sandwich I ordered.

Fast forward, and Aldi is selling its own canned tomato basil soup. Of course, I had to get some to try at home.

Simply Nature Organic Tomato Basil Soup is an Aldi Find in 2026. That means each store should get one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone until whenever Aldi decides to bring it back. When we first wrote about it in 2024, it was a Seasonal Item that was stocked for a little longer, during the fall and winter months. Regardless, if this is out of stock at your local store, you won’t be able to order online from Aldi.

We buy Aldi products ourselves for review. I paid $2.25 for an 18.6-ounce can at my local store in 2024. As of early 2026, it’s $2.29, which comes out to about 12 cents per ounce.

This is a product of Canada. It’s USDA organic and was certified organic by Ecocert Canada. It’s also non-GMO.

I chose to heat this on my stovetop. It was nice and hot in just a few minutes. This soup has a mild sweet flavor, and notes of basil that aren’t too overpowering. It’s hard to beat traditional Campbell’s tomato soup when it comes to canned soups, but I like this one. It tastes good on its own, or it’s perfect for dunking a grilled cheese sandwich into. It holds it own compared to Disney World tomato soup, and I would buy this again.

The Verdict:

Simply Nature Organic Tomato Basil Soup is a ready-to-heat canned soup at Aldi. You don’t have to add milk or anything else to this soup. Simply pour into a bowl or saucepan and heat. The basil flavor is mild, and overall this is a good tomato soup.
