Trader Joe’s Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix
When my youngest child was in preschool, I made friends with a small group of moms of fellow students. One mother was from Thailand, and several times she generously cooked us homemade Thai green curry, which was delicious.
So when I spotted a snack mix with flavors from Thailand during a recent Trader Joe’s run, I had to try it. I’m already a fan of the Thai Lime & Chili Cashews from Trader Joe’s, so this snack mix looked promising.
I paid $3.49 for a 5.29-ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix at my local TJ’s in April of 2025. That’s around 66 cents per ounce.
The package describes this as “a crunchy blend of cashews, fava beans, sticky rice & peas with the flavors of Thai Tom Yum Soup.”
This is a product of Thailand.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains soy, sesame, wheat, coconut, and cashew.
The ingredients list includes cashews, fried fava beans, dried cooked sticky rice, fried green peas, tom yum seasoning (which includes cane sugar, salt, chili powder, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, shallot, chili pepper, yeast extract, lime juice powder, soy sauce powder, fried chili powder, paprika oleoresin, and beta-carotene [for color]), rice bran oil, fried shallots, lemongrass, watermelon juice, cane sugar, coconut milk, sesame seeds, salt, salt, kaffir lime leaf, and chili pepper.
One 1/3-cup serving has 160 calories, 9 grams of total fat (12% DV), 3 grams of saturated fat (15% DV), 290 mg of sodium (13% DV), 14 grams of total carbohydrates (5% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 3 grams of total sugars, 2 grams of added sugars (4% DV), and 4 grams of protein.
This is a good snack mix, and it didn’t last long. It has a lot of crispy fava beans and crunchy sticky rice balls, plus cashew halves and crunchy peas. There are also plenty of visible spices and pieces of kaffir lime leaves. It has that classic hot and sour flavor, with distinct lime notes and a medium amount of spiciness.
The Verdict:
Trader Joe’s Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix is a product of Thailand and features cashews, sticky rice balls, fried peas, and fried fava beans with a hot and sour spice blend. It’s got a moderate amount of spice, and it’s satisfyingly crunchy. If you like Thai food, this is worth dropping in your shopping cart.
