Clancy’s Sour Cream & Onion Lentil Loops

EDITOR’S NOTE: Our review of Clancy’s Lightly Salted Pea Crisps — sold in a mixed case with the Lentil Loops — is here

When it comes to snacks, my family tends to stick to fruit and veggies, cheese, or nuts. We like things such as chips, but we tend to save them for special occasions.

Aldi recently introduced some baked snacks that offer salt and crunch similar to chips, but their nutritional profile is better. It’s a mixed case featuring lightly salted pea crisps and sour cream and onion lentil loops. I dropped both in my cart to try at home.

Here, I’m taking a closer look at the lentil loops.

Clancy's Lentil Loops

Clancy’s Lentil Loops are new Seasonal Products at Aldi. A Seasonal Product is something Aldi carries for a few months but not year round. In other words, Seasonal Products stick around for longer than an Aldi Find, but they’re not permanent. In the case of these lentil loops, they’re sold during the post-Christmas winter months. Aldi does not offer online ordering for these if they’re out of stock at your local store.

We buy Aldi products for review using our own funds. I paid $1.99 for a 2.5-ounce package of lentil loops in early 2026.

If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain milk.

These are certified gluten free.

The full ingredients list for the lentil loops is red lentils, rice, vegetable oil (canola, safflower and/or sunflower oil), sour cream and onion seasoning (salt, whey, tapioca dextrose, natural flavor, buttermilk solids, onion powder, sour cream [cream, nonfat milk, cultures], parsley, yeast extract, nonfat dry milk, spice), calcium carbonate, annatto color, and rosemary extract (for freshness).

One package of the lentil loops contains 2.5 servings. One serving (roughly 22 pieces) has 130 calories, 6 grams of total fat (8% DV), 0.5 grams of saturated fat (3% DV), 180 mg of sodium (8% DV), 16 grams of total carbohydrates (6% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 1 gram of total sugars, no added sugars, and 4 grams of protein.

These have a good carbs-to-fiber ratio of 8:1.

The Aldi lentil loops are crunchy, with just the right amount of sour cream and onion seasoning. The lentils give them a different taste, but they’re not bad. Of note: the Aldi lentil loops have ingredients and a nutritional profile that are practically identical to Trader Joe’s Sour Cream & Onion Rings Lentil & Rice Snacks, which makes me wonder if Aldi and TJ’s have a common supplier for their lentil ring snacks.

I really like the lentil loops. My family all liked them, too. It’s all too easy to eat entire packages of these very quickly, so I probably won’t buy them often, but it’s nice to have these options at Aldi. I hope they stick around.

The Verdict:

Clancy’s Sour Cream & Onion Lentil Loops are crispy snacks that feature lentils as the first ingredients. They offer a good amount of fiber and make a tasty alternative to traditional potato chips.
