DuPont Allergen HVAC Air Filter (Aldi)

Most homes in America have a traditional central air heating and air conditioning system. In parts of the United States where temperatures can get more extreme, central air isn’t just a matter of comfort — it can be a matter of safety. In our part of the Midwest, we’ve seen 105 degrees and we’ve seen -10 degrees, and while neither of those are common, having a system that can handle them is important.

If you have a central air system, you have a central air filter for your furnace. There are many options out there on filters — 30-day, 3-month, washable, different MERV ratings, and so on — and still more opinions about which of those options is best. Walk into a hardware store or many big box stores, and you’re liable to see a bunch of those options on display.

Every once in a while, Aldi sells HVAC air filters as single-stock Aldi Finds. In other words, each store gets one shipment, and once they’re sold out, you can’t get them until they come back, whenever that may be. We’ve seen Aldi sell these from time to time going back to at least 2018, making them a recurring Aldi Find.

Unlike many Aldi products, including limited buys, Aldi doesn’t sell a private label or house brand air filter. Instead, the store stocks a national brand. And, in fact, the grocer has been stocking the same national brand going back to 2018.

The June 2026 version.

DuPont Allergen Filters cost $6.99 in 2026. That price point has held mostly steady going back to 2018, with the exception of 2022 when we saw it briefly go up to $7.99 and late 2025 when we saw them briefly drop to $4.99.

How does that price compare to other places? Over on Amazon, prices on comparable filters range from $5 to $15 per filter … but since Amazon mostly sells multi-packs, shoppers need to buy in bulk to get those prices. Walmart prices run between $10 and $15 per filter and many of those are also multi-packs. The same goes for Lowes.

In short, the Aldi price is competitive, especially for a brand-name filter.

These have been a recurring Aldi Find in stores. We have records of Aldi selling them every year going back to 2018 except for 2023, when we have no record of Aldi selling them. Sometimes Aldi has sold them once a year, sometimes twice. In 2025 the grocer sold them three times: in March, June, and September.

The exact specs on the filter can vary each time they hit Aldi shelves. However, there are certain constants over the years. One, as they’re all billed as allergen filters, they tend to have a higher Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating, which is a measure of how effective the filter is at capturing airborne particles like allergens. The 2026 model, for example, is a MERV 11 rating, which is in the range HVAC company Carrier recommends for dander and fine allergens.

Two, these are 3-month filters. While some people like cheaper 30-day filters, if you like to replace your filter less often, these are popular.

Three, Aldi has sold four specific sizes every year it has stocked these filters. They are:

  • 16x20x1
  • 16x25x1
  • 20x20x1
  • 20x25x1

We’ve never seen Aldi sell HVAC filters outside of these four sizes, so if you need a different size, Aldi isn’t the place to look.

I happen to have a 16x25x1 furnace, so Aldi had what I needed.

These are mostly the same as what I’ve gotten from other places. They feel reasonably sturdy like other 3-month filters. The fact that they have a MERV 11 rating is a big plus for people with allergies.

One nitpick: they don’t have pull tabs on the sides. Many of the filters I get nowadays have little cardboard pull tabs that pop out along the edge, which are helpful from getting them out of the cramped filter slot when it’s time to swap them out. There are ways to work around this, but it would still be nice if the Aldi filters had such tabs.

If you’re looking for air filters, Aldi is a better option than one might think, at least if you can find your furnace size. The grocer sells name-brand DuPont MERV 11 filters that are well-rated against allergens and are made to last up to 3 months. The price is quite competitive compared to other places, moreso given that you can get one at a time if you need to rather than being locked into multi-packs. All of that makes Aldi a decent place to get a filter, especially if you need one in a pinch.
