Aldi is famous for bringing us things we didn’t even know we needed. Like motion activated toilet bowl nightlights, giant inflatable dinosaur sprinklers, macaroni and cheese pizzas, and dill pickle popcorn.

Or, how about electric window vacuums?

I had never heard of a window vacuum before spotting one in the most recent weekly Aldi ad. Naturally, I was curious. A window vacuum is a combination of a small handheld vacuum and a squeegee. They’re made to suck up condensation or cleaning solution as you clean your windows, so you don’t have to wipe your windows dry with a towel and you’re left with a streak-free finish. You can also use a window vacuum to suction up water left on shower doors, or to clean tile, mirrors, glass tabletops, or other glass surfaces.

The German-based company Karcher claims to have invented the original Window Vac more than 10 years ago. I found Karcher Window Vac systems starting around $80 on their website, with some packages costing more than $100. These days, you may have seen some popular TikTok videos demonstrating Karcher window vacuums. Reviews of window vacuums on the wider Web can be somewhat mixed, with some people who swear by them and others who are a bit more skeptical about whether they really save you much effort.

It’s no surprise Aldi is getting in on the window vac trend, as the discount grocer is often game for imitating the latest craze.

What We Know:

Ambiano Cordless Electric Window Vacuum

The Ambiano Cordless Electric Window Vacuum (Product Code: 830174) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are out of stock at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 28th, 2024.

The Ambiano Cordless Electric Window Vacuum cost $19.99 at the time of publication. That’s a lot less than what other window vacuum systems on Amazon cost.

Here’s more information about the Aldi window vacuum:

  • Simple 3-step process: Spray, clean, vacuum
  • Includes a spray bottle with 2 microfiber cloths
  • Includes rechargeable lithium ion battery
  • Features 200 ml removable water tank

What We Don’t Know:

I haven’t purchased this window vacuum yet, so I don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to use. I plan to buy one as soon as it arrives in my local stores so I can test it. In the meantime, I’ve written this open thread to provide readers with a place to talk about the vacuum.

  1. Bought this but haven’t tested it yet. Pretty impressed with it at the price.
So far, my only concern is the manual says to only spray the window with water.
