Benner Decaf Black Tea

I make no secret of my love for a good cup of hot tea. I used to drink more fruity, herbal teas, but as the years have gone on, I’ve come to appreciate black tea. In fact, I start most mornings with a cup of some type of black tea. It might be the basic bulk box of black tea that Aldi sells, or it might be something more inspired like the seasonal fall maple espresso black tea blend Trader Joe’s sometimes stocks.

But what about when I want the flavor of black tea without the caffeine. Well, in the late summer of 2025, I spotted a decaffeinated black tea option at Aldi. I picked up a box to give it a try.

Benner Decaf Black Tea appears to be a new Aldi Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find it in stores all year.

I bought this myself and paid $1.49 in 2025 for a box with 20 tea bags. That comes out to about 7 cents per tea bag.

This tea is kosher and is Rainforest Alliance certified.

The only ingredient is decaffeinated black tea.

The tea bags are individually packaged in paper wrappers. Sometimes other Aldi tea bags have been packaged in clear plastic wrappers, which many of our readers have expressed concern about, so I’m glad to see the use of more sustainable paper packaging.

The box has directions for brewing the tea.

For a cup of hot tea, bring fresh cold water to a rolling boil. Pour 8 ounces of water over a tea bag and steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove the tea bag. Add lemon and/or sweetener if desired.

For one quart of iced tea, bring fresh cold water to a rolling boil. Pour 4 cups of water over 3-5 tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and pour over ice-filled glasses. If desired, serve with lemon and/or sweetener.

We usually drink hot tea, so I prepared this hot with water from our electric kettle. It’s a good tea, and it tastes as advertised. It’s a black tea, without the energy jolt that might keep you from falling asleep at your normal bedtime.

The Verdict:

Benner Decaf Black Tea is a new everyday tea at Aldi. It has that classic black tea flavor but without all the caffeine. If that’s the type of tea you’re looking for, give this one a try.
