I’ve taken up walking — and sometimes jogging — during the past year, but my workout wardrobe is sparse. When Aldi rolled out these Special Buy (ALDI Find) Crane Ladies Performance Shorts for $6.99, I decided to try a pair.

The shorts have an inner brief that claims to wick moisture and dry fast, and they have mesh on the sides of the legs. They come in several colors: gray and teal, black and pink, or black and red. I chose the gray and teal shorts.

Sizing can be a bit difficult with clothing from Aldi, but in general Aldi clothing tends to run small. These shorts are available in sizes S-XL and should fit ladies sizes 4-18. I usually wear a size 6 in pants and opted for the size medium shorts, which claim to fit sizes 8-10. True to my experience with Aldi clothing, the shorts run small, and I’m glad I bought a medium and not a small. The shorts are on the short side length-wise, and they are a bit more snug around my thighs than I prefer, but I can still wear them without any real problems.

One nice thing about these shorts is that they include a hidden pocket inside the waist. It’s just big enough to hold a house key or car key, although it gaps a bit at the top, so I’m not sure how well my house key will stay put.

The shorts are made in China and are 100% polyester, with a waistband that is 90% polyester and 10% spandex. They can be washed in cold water and tumbled dry on low heat. The shorts also feature the OEKO-TEX Confidence in Textiles seal, indicating that the material has been tested for harmful substances.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Special Buy Crane Ladies Performance Shorts run a bit small, so you’ll probably want to buy a size larger than what you usually wear. The shorts look good and are comfortable. They also feature a small hidden pocket inside the waist where you can carry a house key or car key, but I’m not yet sure how good of a job the pocket will do at holding keys in. Otherwise recommended.
