EDITOR’S NOTE: This review is from January of 2025. Aldi is selling this teapot again the week of December 24th, 2025, for the same price of $9.99.

Our family drinks a lot of tea. A lot.

A lot.

We have a large collection of tea — from black English breakfast tea to green tea to herbal varieties, many from Aldi. We’ve used our share of stainless steel stovetop kettles and electric kettles from Aldi to heat water for tea over the years.

In 2025, Aldi introduced something to take our tea-brewing to the next level: a glass teapot.

Crofton Glass Teapot

The Crofton Glass Teapot is an Aldi Find, meaning it’s only in stores for a limited time. Each store gets a single shipment, and once it’s sold out, that’s it until it comes back, whenever that might be. If you can’t find one in stores, you’re out of luck for now.

In 2025, the teapot cost $9.99. That’s lower than any other glass kettle I can find on Amazon.

What comes in the box: the teapot itself, the lid, and the metal filter to hold tea leaves or tea bags.

The most important thing to know about this teapot right from the start is that you can’t use this on a stove. It’s also not suitable for the microwave or a conventional oven, according to the fine print on the box.

In other words, you have to heat your water for tea in another vessel, such as a stovetop-safe kettle or an electric kettle. Then, you let that water cool for a few minutes to whatever the ideal temperature is based on what type of tea you’re brewing. Then, you pour that heated water over the tea leaves in this glass teapot and let it steep before pouring into cups and serving.

The teapot’s dimensions, according to the box, are 8.19 inches wide and 5.31 inches tall.

Here’s more information about the teapot, according to the box:

  • Suitable for use in dishwasher (without lid)
  • Not suitable for use in microwave
  • Not suitable for use in oven
  • Not suitable for freezing
  • Features a stainless steel tea and pouring filter
  • Made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass
  • Capacity 33.81 fluid ounces (one liter)
  • Heat resistance: 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 212 degrees Fahrenheit

The box also has some warnings:

  • Glass body becomes hot during use
  • Allow tea strainer and filter to cool completely before removing/cleaning
  • Only touch the handles provided for this purpose during use
  • Discontinue use if product is cracked or damaged
  • Clean the product in water with a cleaning agent before first use and after each subsequent use
  • Handle product with care

There is a removable metal tea filter that goes inside the middle of the pot. That means you can use this teapot for both tea bags and loose tea leaves, letting them steep through the filter. Because of the way the tea filter is constructed, it’s great for loose leaf tea. Aldi ironically only sells loose leaf tea occasionally as a limited-time Aldi Find, and we don’t see it very often at Aldi.

A closer look at the spout.

We didn’t happen to have any loose leaf tea in our kitchen when we tried this teapot for the first time, so I just used two green tea bags (purchased from Aldi).

There is plenty of room in the filter container for tea, and it certainly looks pretty in this glass pot. I heated 1 liter of water in my electric kettle, let it cool for a few minutes, and poured it into the teapot. (I set the teapot on a potholder to protect my countertop.) The box states the pot has a capacity of 33.8 fluid ounces, which is the same as one liter. It filled it pretty close to the top. It easily made enough for two mugs of tea with a little left over. The glass handle stayed cool to the touch.

Do you really need a teapot like this? Can you simply heat the water in a kettle and pour it into a mug with a tea bag or a single-serving loose leaf tea strainer? Sure. But a teapot like this can be ideal for certain loose leaf teas. Plus, sometimes it’s nice to simply enjoy the ritual of making tea, and that includes brewing it in pourable teapots like this one.

The Verdict:

The Crofton Glass Teapot is a nice tool for people who are serious about their tea brewing. It holds one liter of water, plus several tea bags or some loose leaf tea. Keep in mind that this is not for use on a stovetop, so you’ll have to heat your water using a separate kettle.

  1. Similar will cost at least double anywhere else, and this is the only one I could find with a secondary filter in the spout. There is one a little less that otherwise appears identical, but is missing the stainless infuser insert.

  2. Is it really not for stove top? I don’t see that anywhere on the box. Was really excited for this, but if I have to heat in something else and pour in it kind of defeats the purpose.

    1. I am also disappointed that it can’t go on stove. Why would we want to use multiples dishes just to steep a cup of tea. Its cute though.

      1. I was not happy once I found out it can’t go on the stove but not the type to take stuff back so guess I’ll just keep it for cuteness

  3. Is there a trick to the metal loose tea holder staying in the pot opening? Because of the metal clips on the top of the tea holder, mine won’t stay in the pot opening. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Thanks for any help.
