Easy Home Collapsible Hamper

Laundry is an inevitable part of life, and so are all the supplies that go with doing laundry: a washing machine, detergent, dryer balls or fabric softener sheets if desired, laundry baskets, and a dryer or drying rack, to name a few things. During the mid to late summer, Aldi introduces various laundry supplies into its middle aisle in time for university students who are preparing to head off to dorms and apartments. It’s also a great time for the rest of us to update our laundry rooms.
When a handle recently broke on an older plastic hamper from Aldi that one of my kids uses, I began keeping an eye out for new laundry hampers in the weekly Aldi ad. I didn’t have to wait long. This week, Aldi sold both laundry bags and collapsible laundry hampers. I picked up a collapsible hamper.
The Easy Home Collapsible Hamper is an Aldi Find that’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives a single shipment. After that sells out, it’s gone. Aldi might bring it back at some later date, or not. If this is not currently in stock at your local store, you can’t order it online from Aldi.
This cost $5.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the cheaper side based on other collapsible hampers I found on Amazon.

This features a metal ring or wire encased in fabric around the top to give the hamper some structure. The rest of the hamper is a flexible fabric / plasticky material that easily squishes down flat for storage. The exterior is more of a rough fabric, while the interior has more of a plastic feel. Because the inside feels more plastic-like, I think it would be easy to wipe down if you need to clean the hamper.
The bottom of the hamper doesn’t have any kind of metal frame or ring to help it keep its shape, but it stands up all right, and it keeps its shape even better when you start filling it with clothing. This hamper would also work well for storing stuffed animals or other soft items. Whatever you put in it, it has plenty of space and can hold a decent amount.
It had a strong plastic / chemical smell when I initially purchased it, but I expect that to fade.
Overall, this does what it needs to do, which is to hold clothing going to or from the laundry room. So far, it does that job just fine. I’ll update this post if necessary after we’ve used this for a while.
The Verdict:
The Easy Home Collapsible Hamper is a simple hamper that squashes down flat when you need to store it. The outside features a rough fabric material, while the inside has a little more of a plastic feel. A metal ring inside the top opening helps the hamper stay open so you can toss clothing inside it, and two fabric handles on the sides allow for easy carrying to and from the laundry room. It’s not fancy, but this hamper has a nice neutral look and will get the job done.
