Easy Home Storage Basket + Crofton Pantry Basket
Organizing the freezer and pantry are among the tasks that are really easy to put off until absolutely necessary. We couldn’t start until locating the proper supplies to assist our efforts, so when these bins were waiting for us at Aldi recently, it was officially time!
Easy Home Storage Basket
The Easy Home Storage Basket is a Special Buy (ALDI Find). It retails for $4.99 and comes with a single basket. There isn’t any warranty.
The freezer baskets are amazing! They are wire-coated steel and extremely sturdy. They are big enough that one holds all our frozen bags of veggies (from Aldi!) and one holds the frozen fruit for smoothies (also from Aldi!). In my freezer they happen to awkwardly fill the space on the shelf, as there is not quite enough room for three … but I didn’t measure first so I had no expectations! Our deep freezer is never completely full anyway, so this is fine for us. For less than half of what a similar item can be bought at our local big-box store, I am extremely pleased.
Crofton Pantry Basket
The Crofton Pantry Basket is also a Special Buy (ALDI Find). Each basket retails for $2.99, and — also like the storage basket — doesn’t come with any warranty. We also found the same baskets for sale for about $20 for a four-pack from Home Depot, or $5 each.
We were not as impressed by the pantry baskets. They are sturdy enough and happen to fit three across in our pantry. However, the inside dimensions are not ideal. Each corner has a plastic “lip” to reinforce the bins and make them sturdy, but this makes it difficult to put boxes and other containers into the bins neatly. In this instance, I think a plain basket like these from Sterilite would have worked just as well and been compatible with others in our house.
The Verdict:
We are still using all of these Crofton and Easy Home baskets and bins we bought to organize the freezer and pantry, but my follow-up shopping decisions are pretty telling. There were some pantry bins leftover on clearance another day. After pausing to consider, I decided I didn’t really want any more. However, when I stumbled across one more of the freezer baskets a few weeks later tucked in an odd spot, I snatched it up quickly!
