KIRKTON HOUSE Easel (Huntington Home Easel)

EDITOR’S NOTE: We bought this easel in the summer of 2024 when it was sold under the Huntington Home Aldi house brand. Aldi is selling it again in July of 2025 under the KIRKTON HOUSE Aldi house brand for $4.99, which is $1 more than we paid for it in 2024. See our update at the end of this post about how the easel has held up with regular use.

If you do any reading on a phone or tablet while sitting at a table, you probably know it’s easier to prop up the phone at an angle rather than placing it flat on the table. Propping it typically reduces light reflecting off the screen — especially if I’m sitting in a room with overhead lighting — and it also reduces potential neck strain by reducing the angle at which you’re looking down. You can prop a device using whatever you might have on hand. The fruit bowl that sits in the center of my dining room table is a popular choice. Or, you can buy a special stand or easel for your phone.

Aldi is the store that often sells exactly what I need, even if I don’t yet realize I need it. This week, the grocer is selling an easel made specifically to prop up your phone, tablet, or even, according to Aldi, a traditional book. It’s part of a slate of small office and tech supplies I’ve seen lately at the store.

The KIRKTON HOUSE Easel, formerly the Huntington Home Easel, is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and once that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products not currently in stock at your area store.

This cost $3.99 when I bought it with my own funds in 2024. As of 2025, it’s $4.99. That’s cheaper than many similar phone stands or phone easels I found on Amazon.

Measuring with my own measuring tape, this stands approximately 5.75 inches tall, nearly 4 inches wide, and about 5.5 inches deep. This came in white with nonskid feet that were available in a few different colors. I got one with black feet.

Here’s more information, according to the packaging:

  • Holds tablets, phones, and books securely in portrait or landscape positions
  • Features a non-skid base
  • Includes a cutout for cables so you can charge devices while they’re on the easel

Trying out the stand with a phone.

First of all, the glue dots that hold the label in place are very sticky and fairly large, and it took some work to get all the glue off. I might put a little Goo Gone on the easel to remove some lingering glue residue.

Once that’s done, though, this is a nice thing to prop a phone or book on. My phone stays in place well, and the rubber feet keep the easel from sliding around while you’re scrolling or tapping on a screen. It’s a simple solution to a common annoyance, and the fact that it’s cheap is a plus.

It also works fine for a Kindle or similar reading device. I don’t have any tablets in my house, so I can’t speak to how well this does in that regard.

I did try the easel with a few print books. It won’t hold large books very well, but it can be okay for a standard-sized novel. It does better with some books than others, depending on how worn the book spine is and whether the book can stay open on its own or not. If the book doesn’t lie flat on its own, you may have a harder time using it with this stand. Overall, this easel seems to work better for small tech like phones, Kindles, and probably tablets.

The Verdict:

The KIRKTON HOUSE Easel (previously the Huntington Home Easel) is a cheap way to prop up a phone, tablet, Kindle, or possibly a small book while reading. It features nonskid feet and has cutouts for charging cords. If you’re trying to reduce glare and neck strain while reading electronic devices at a table or desk, this is a good inexpensive solution.

UPDATE (7/18/2025) — We’ve owned this easel for a year now and it works great with our phones. It gets regular use, and we like it so much we might buy a second one.

    1. They’re not currently in stores, and Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering if a product isn’t currently in stock at your local store. You can either look for a different brand from a another retailer or wait and see if Aldi might eventually bring back the easel.
