Aldi has sold a lot of Advent calendars over the years, including LEGO, Little People, and various chocolate calendars. This year, they sold a Bluey Advent Calendar by Moose Toys. Bluey is actually one of my favorite Disney shows, so I decided to get it.

The Moose Toys Bluey Advent Calendar is an Aldi Find, which means you can only find it in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment, and after it sells out, it’s gone. Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering for products that are not currently in stock in your local store.

This Bluey Advent Calendar cost $19.99 when I got it.

I found this same calendar on Amazon for about $42. I also found a different Bluey Advent calendar that is an Amazon exclusive for $24.99. That makes the Aldi version the best deal.

This Advent calendar includes several fun things from the show, including, of course, Bluey and her little sister Bingo. They’re both wearing Christmas shirts.

The contents of the calendar, minus a xylophone, which was missing from our calendar.

It also has a Bartleby sticker from one of the Christmas episodes, which I found fun. Even some of the minor references from the show are fun, such as an octopus stuffed animal that’s often on the show. There are six stickers in this calendar that I wished were actual figures, and although none of them are particularly important, I wish that it included more 3D pieces.

A closer look at some toys and stickers in the calendar. The Christmas tree separates into three pieces, and the star also detaches.

The calendar includes (not in order):

  • Bluey
  • Bingo
  • A Christmas tree and star (in several pieces, all divided into four days)
  • A wreath
  • A pink crown and a yellow crown
  • Two identical Santa hats
  • A blue and yellow present and a red and green present
  • A teal mug and a red mug
  • A stuffed animal octopus figure
  • A xylophone
  • A Santa snow globe
  • A candy cane sticker
  • A Bartleby sticker
  • A red gift sticker
  • A stocking sticker
  • A red bow sticker
  • A stuffed animal reindeer sticker

Despite the fun references, however, there was a fairly big problem with this. When I opened day 23, the compartment was empty. I took out the plastic liner holding the pieces to see if it had fallen into the back of the box, but it was missing completely. It was supposed to have a xylophone. This wasn’t the worst thing to be missing because it wasn’t Bluey or Bingo or another important piece, but it was pretty disappointing.

What’s maybe worse is that I found multiple Amazon customers reporting that their Bluey calendars were also missing a piece.

More pieces in the calendar.

Another thing I discovered was that when Bluey and Bingo sit, their shirts look weird. The shirts don’t go onto the bottom of the figures, of course, but the legs move in a specific way when they sit, so there’s a large square the color of their fur surrounding their legs when they sit. It’s not a problem so much as a minor annoyance, although with the current figure design, I can’t think of a way to easily fix it. Another small thing is that Bluey’s arms are a little loose and Bingo’s tail is pretty loose.

Bluey and Bingo look a little funny when they sit.

The Verdict:

I would probably love this calendar if it weren’t missing a piece, and I certainly wanted to like it. The figures are good quality, and the figures and stickers are fun items from the Disney show. It’s a fun calendar, but I probably wouldn’t buy this again because I’d be worried that it would be missing another figure. That was a disappointment.
