Aldi Introduces SOHL Furniture Bar Cabinet

You probably already know Aldi can be an excellent place to shop when you’re getting ready to entertain friends or family. They’ve got everything from cheese board components and easy-prep appetizers to desserts, or even the main course.

Sometimes you can even find non-food products that are great for hosting. The most recent weekly Aldi ad features cutlery, stoneware plates, acacia serving boards, centerpiece glass bowls, stemware glasses, napkin rings and chargers, and tablecloths, napkins, table runners, placemats, and everything you need to set a dazzling table this holiday season, or any time.

Among all this, Aldi is also selling a bar cabinet to store all your wine and cocktail-making supplies. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Aldi sell a bar cabinet that I can recall. Fully assembled, it stands not quite four feet tall, is more than two and a half feet wide, and is more than a foot deep. It has a wood-grain appearance and has a classic mid-century modern look.

What We Know:

SOHL Furniture Bar Cabinet

The SOHL Furniture Bar Cabinet (Product Code: 708600) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products not in stock at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores on either November 5th or November 8th of 2023, depending on whether your local store’s weekly ad goes into effect on Sundays or Wednesdays.

The SOHL Furniture Bar Cabinet cost $99.99 at the time of publication. That’s cheaper than most other bar cabinets on the market.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t bought this bar cabinet, so we don’t know how easily it assembles or how well it holds up to use. Also, Aldi has not yet published information about whether this comes with any kind of warranty. We write open threads to provide readers with a place to discuss Aldi products.

We don’t keep “adult beverages” in our house; however, I crochet, and this cabinet’s design would make it useful for yarn storage. The bumpers on the lower shelves would help keep skeins of yarn separated, and the hanging stemware storage at the inside top of this cabinet could potentially be repurposed for storing hanks of yarn (which you’re not supposed to wind into cakes until just before you use them).

  2. I bought this cabinet, which comes in two boxes. For the most part the material is sturdy. Except the back which less than a 1/4 inch thick and the pieces were warped right out of the box, for me at least. So the whole thing does not sit well together. The top is pretty cool marble look to it. I plan on returning it, as I attempted to straighten the pieces out with weights overnight which did not work. I didn’t pay full price for warped/damaged goods.

    • Can you comment on the wood? Is it MDF with plywood veneer? It looks like Acacia or mango wood…the boxes at the store were very heavy.
      Thanks!

      • I built this cabinet for a customer and it is HDF (high-density) with a real wood veneer. It uses the typical combination of dowels and cams for attaching the top, middle, and sides, and dowels and screws for the bottom. There are threaded inserts in the bottom for the legs. All holes are predrilled and accurate. Overall, I was impressed by the quality. The only downside I noticed was that because there is no cross-bracing anywhere across the front, it has to be on a completely level surface otherwise the doors will not align properly.

  3. I purchased this cabinet and I have to say I really like it. Its sturdy and really heavy. I put it together myself in 3 hours. Had I used a power screwdriver I would’ve been done a lot quicker. The instructions were very “wordy” so that took some time to figure out as well. Overall, I am pleased with this $99 purchase. My only complaint is there is wood glue of some sort on the front of the cabinet door. I have to figure out how to remove it without damaging the cabinet.

  4. I purchased this cabinet, I think it’s a quality product. All of the wood pieces were solid wood, they didn’t feel like mdf. There was a few scratches, but a quick furniture marker or crayon buffed that right out. The back pieces are thin, but they are meant to provide a facade, not be real pieces of wood. Overall the unit is heavy, I believe it’s better than most of the bars you would find online.

The only wish I had was that the feet had stabilizers, to make sure that the unit doesn’t rock on an uneven floor.

Should be a simple fix, with something found online, but would have been a thoughtful feature.

  5. NO INSTRUCTION makes this a terrible purchase. How do I get my money back? Will Aldi please send someone to haul all these heavy pieces out of my basement? SOOOO disappointed I can’t even find an instruction manual online.
