Open Thread: SOHL Furniture Couch Table

TV trays were a staple of many people’s childhoods. It was always fun to unfold the TV tray and sit on the couch to eat a meal while watching a movie or cartoons. As an adult, I’ve also eaten off of TV trays when visiting friends’ homes where we couldn’t fit everyone around the kitchen table. It’s helpful to have some flexible table space you can pull out at a moment’s notice.

TV trays haven’t changed much in design over the years, and they aren’t particularly fancy. They consist of a small tabletop surface with folding legs underneath, so they can be folded flat to lean against a wall, get tucked into a closet, or perch on a special TV tray stand.

However, Aldi occasionally sells a twist on a traditional TV tray. Aldi calls it a couch table, and it’s useful not only as a TV tray but also as a stylish side table, night stand, or computer table. It’s small, semi-portable, and chic and modern looking. It’s probably no coincidence that Aldi is selling this couch table right around the time when people may be shopping for dorm furniture.

What We Know:

The SOHL Furniture Couch Table (Product Code: 701149) is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone until whenever Aldi might decide to bring it back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for this if it’s sold out at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores the week of July 3rd, 2024.

The SOHL Furniture Couch Table cost $14.99 at the time of publication. That’s about half the price of many other similar-looking couch tables I found on Amazon.

This is sold under the SOHL Furniture brand. That’s an Aldi private label for furniture, which Aldi sources from various suppliers. There is no company called SOHL Furniture.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet tried this table, so we don’t know how well it works or how sturdy it is. Also, Aldi has not published information yet as to whether this comes with a warranty or after-sales service. We write open threads to give readers a place to discuss Aldi products.
