Open Thread: Solo Stove TerraFlame Cinder Tabletop Fire Bowl for S’mores

For the past couple of years, Aldi has sold a Belavi Stainless Steel Portable Fire pit that looked almost exactly like an expensive name-brand Solo stove. The Aldi version was a lot more affordable, getting quite a bit of attention and prompting a lot of chatter on our post about it.

While Aldi more often than not will imitate name brands and put its own house brand names on the products it sells, as was the case with the Belavi-branded portable fire pit, the grocer does sometimes sell actual name-brand products. That’s the case with everything from food brands such as Coca-Cola and Sun Chips to non-food products such as Intex swimming pools.

This spring, Aldi is selling a name-brand Solo Stove Cinder Tabletop Fire Bowl. The weekly online ad on Aldi’s website calls it a TerraFlame S’mores Cinder Stove. TerraFlame is a division of Solo Stove. This fire bowl burns using a special smokeless gel fuel, and it’s safe for indoor and outdoor use. You can even make s’mores over the flame.

Solo Stove says of the product: “Bring the ambiance, crackles, and allure of an open flame indoors. Fueled by Solo Stove Smokeless Gel Fuel, unveil an atmosphere steeped in warmth with a captivating flame that dances between indoor elegance and outdoor wonder.”

The Cinder Tabletop Fire Bowl retails on Solo Stove’s website for $49.99 full price, although it was on sale for $39.99 at the time we wrote this post. Meanwhile, Aldi is selling it for $34.99 while supplies last.

What We Know:

TerraFlame S'mores Cinder Stove

The Solo Stove Cinder Tabletop Fire Bowl (Product Code: 712109) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone until if or when Aldi decides to bring it back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are out of stock at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores the week of May 22nd, 2024.

The Solo Stove Cinder Tabletop Fire Bowl cost $34.99 at Aldi at the time of publication. As mentioned above, this product sells for $49.99 full price on Solo Stove’s website, although it was on sale for $39.99 at the time of this post’s writing. We also found this fire bowl selling for a whopping $54.99 on Amazon (more than Solo Stove itself charges), and it was selling for $39.98 at Walmart.

When you buy the fire bowl from Aldi, it includes one can of Pure Gel Fuel. Replacement cans start at $34.99 for a 6-pack on Solo Stove’s website. Solo states you should buy the Pure version of the gel if you want to make s’mores or cook other food over the flame, and you should not use the citronella-scented gel they also sell if you intend to cook food.

Here’s more information about the fire bowl:

  • Enjoy s’mores anytime, anywhere: in the living room or at a backyard gathering
  • This is a portable tabletop roaster fired by clean-burning, smoke-free gel fuel
  • Available in contemporary concrete with bamboo accents, with a heat-resistant base
  • Includes stonecast fire bowl, one can of Pure Gel Fuel, and one s’mores recipe booklet

According to the product specifications on Solo Stove’s website, the fire bowl is 6 inches in diameter and 4.25 inches tall. It weighs 5.62 lbs. The specs also indicate one can of fuel has a 3+ hour burn time. It can be lit, extinguished, and lit again until the fuel is used up.

The fire bowl has a lifetime warranty, according to Solo Stove.

Aldi has previously sold other small, portable, outdoor-only campfires under its Adventuridge house brand that were big flops in our experience. Solo is a well-known name brand, and we don’t anticipate having problems using this fire bowl.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet purchased this fire bowl, so we don’t know how well it works, how easy it is to use, how well it makes s’mores, or how long it lasts. We write open threads to give readers a place to discuss Aldi products.
