Pure Being Lickable Cat Treats

If you’ve been following Aldi Reviewer for any length of time, you may have noticed we have a feline mascot. We fondly call her Aldi Reviewer Cat. (Her real name is Hildegard, and we call her Hilde — pronounced Hill-Dee — for short.)

Aldi Reviewer Cat has helped us get paws-on reviews of everything from the Aldi cat tower (a winner) to the Aldi cat Advent calendar (inedible when it first came out, but fine after Aldi revamped it) to Aldi cat litter (don’t bother).

Aldi Reviewer Cat - July 2024

Aldi Reviewer Cat is now 18 years old and has recently been showing signs of her age. Some of her health conditions and medications have sometimes caused her to be a pickier eater, and we’ve had days when we’ve had to work to coax Aldi Reviewer Cat to eat.

One treat Aldi Reviewer Cat currently loves is Churu lickable treats by Inaba Foods. I picked some up from a pet supply store after seeing people on a cat message board recommend them for cats whose appetites were lacking. Other pet brands such as Temptations and Delectables also make squeezable, lickable treats. These types of cat treats look like the yogurt squeeze tubes that are popular among kids, except that these contain a pureed cat treat mixture.

Aldi recently sold its own version of a lickable cat treat as a limited-time special. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this type of tube treat at Aldi. In fact, when we purchased the 2022 Heart to Tail Pure Being Cat Advent Calendar, it contained a single lickable treat tube on the final day, and Aldi Reviewer Cat gobbled it up back then.

I decided to take a flyer on a package of the lickable cat treats when I saw them at Aldi this week. I hoped Aldi Reviewer Cat would still like them as much as she did nearly two years ago. The treats came in three different flavors: tuna puree, chicken puree, and salmon puree. I bought the tuna version.

Pure Being Lickable Cat Treats are an Aldi Find, so they’re in stores for only a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back later. You can’t order these online from Aldi if they’re sold out at your local store.

Pure Being Lickable Cat Treats cost $1.89 for a 2-ounce package at the time of publication. Each package contains four 0.5-ounce tubes. That comes out to about 95 cents per ounce, or about 47 cents per tube.

For comparison, I found Churu treats selling for $3.99 for a 2-ounce four-pack at Walmart at the time of publication, or about $1 per tube or $2 per ounce. I also found 1.7-ounce 4-packs of Temptations brand puree selling for $2.58 at Walmart at the time of publication, which is about 65 cents per tube or $1.52 per ounce. I also found 2-ounce four-packs of Delectables treats selling for $2.57, or about 64 cents per tube or $1.29 per ounce.

So, what does Aldi Reviewer Cat think of these?

Our cat loved these. She was curious as soon as I approached with the treat tube, and once I opened it and offered it to her, she immediately began licking and biting on the tube.

The package says you can feed these tubes by hand, offering them to your cat like a yogurt tube. For easier feeding, you can also squirt the tube’s contents into a bowl for your cat to lick up, or you can squeeze the tube onto other cat food as a special topping. It can admittedly be a little messy if you feed this to your cat straight out of the tube.

Overall, these are a winner with Aldi Reviewer Cat, so I don’t have a problem with picking these up the next time I see them at Aldi.

The Verdict:

Pure Being Lickable Cat Treats are squeezable puree tubes that look a bit like a yogurt tube, except these are specially made for cats and come in flavors such as salmon, tuna, and chicken. These are a good deal compared to other name brands, and they received instant approval from our own Aldi Reviewer Cat. If you’re looking for this style of treat to serve your cat, the Aldi version is worth a try.
