Aldi is all about the warm stuff during the holidays: wool socks, slippers, sweat pants, and gloves. And Aldi is also all about the sleepwear, whether it’s women’s robes and pajamas in the Serra line or pajama pants in the Royal Class line. (Or, maybe, unbranded holiday pajama pants.)
But for the man who needs a good long-sleeved top to go with those pajama pants, Aldi’s got that, too.
The Royal Class Men’s 2 Piece Sleepwear Set retailed for $12.99 at the time of purchase, which is a lot less than I’m used to seeing for sets like this. The sets come with brushed flannel pants and either a long-sleeved button-up henley, a long-sleeved crew shirt, or a short-sleeved crew shirt. Given that Aldi usually only stocks a small number in each variation, it’s anyone’s guess whether you’ll have a choice in the matter, although we were fortunate enough to get one of each of the long-sleeved versions.
The sleepwear sets come in three sizes:
- Medium (M): 38-40″ chest, 32-34″ waist, and 32″ inseam
- Large (L): 42-44″ chest, 36-38″ waist, and 32″ inseam
- Extra Large (XL): 46-48″ chest, 40-42″ waist, and 32″ inseam
It’s hard to miss the fact that all three sizes sport the same-sized inseam. That’s fine if you’re of average height — say, 5’10” or thereabouts — but if you’re much taller than that these may not be for you. We do appreciate how the inseam is listed, though, something that was absent from some other Royal Class pajama pants.
According to the packaging, the shirt is 60% cotton and 40% polyester, while the pants are 100% cotton. The pants come with an elastic waistband with drawstring, side seam pockets, and a button fly. According to the packaging, they were made in China and are certified “Standard 100” by OEKO-TEK, which tests for harmful substances in textiles. The instructions call for machine washing with cold water with like colors, then tumbling dry on low.

One unexpected observation: the two pajama pants were different lengths. The pants that came with the long-sleeved crew t-shirt were about 32 inches long, as advertised. But the pants that came with the henley set were shorter — probably 30 inches. This wasn’t a problem for me, as I typically wear 30-inch inseams, but it could be an issue for taller people.
Comfort-wise, both pieces in both the sets we tested were comfortable. We have no idea how they’ll last long-term — and, like most Aldi clothing, there’s no warranty — but they’re promising.
The Verdict:
Overall, our experience with Aldi pajama pants has been good, and this set appears to continue that trend. They’re comfortable, reasonably warm, and nicely priced. We did find a discrepancy between the inseams of two of the pants we tested, but we’re not sure if that’s a fluke or a larger trend. (If you’re taller, go with the long-sleeved crew set.) Also, be mindful that the inseams are all 32 inches. Still, they’re worth a look, especially if you’re hunting for some extra layering above the waist.
