Some Aldi Jalapenos, Green Peppers, and Green Beans Part of Nationwide Produce Recall

On July 22, 2024, Aldi announced a recall of jalapenos, green peppers, and green beans in specific states over concerns that they may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause a bacterial infection. At the time of this post, the recall only affects Aldi stores in Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Here are the three Aldi products affected by the recall:

Product Name – Package Description – UPC Code …

  • Jalapeno – 8 oz. bag – 4099100087680
  • Green Pepper – 16 oz. (3 pack) bag – 4099100087598
  • Green Beans – 16 oz. bag – 4099100087826

Aldi is just one of several grocers affected, and Aldi’s products are only a few of the many vegetables that are now included in the recall. At the center of the recall is Wiers Farm, Inc., an Ohio-based company with a number of operations east of the Mississippi.

What started as a recall on cucumbers in mid-July has since expanded to over a dozen different vegetables. Other stores affected include Walmart, Kroger, Save-a-Lot, and several other smaller grocers. It is important to note that the larger recall includes far more states than the affected Aldi stores.

As of right now, Trader Joe’s is not affected by the recall.
