Whole & Simple Falafel Rice & Quinoa Bowl

The latest Whole & Simple single-serve meal bowls have dropped at Aldi, and these ones looked so good I made sure to put them on my shopping list. One is a chimichurri chicken bowl, and the other is a veggie falafel bowl.

I’m taking a closer look here at the veggie falafel bowl. The package describes this as falafel with spiced brown rice and red quinoa, chickpeas, red and yellow peppers, and spinach, all topped with a creamy garlic sauce.

The Whole & Simple Falafel Rice & Quinoa Bowl is an Aldi Find. That means it’s in stores for a short time only. Each store should get one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for this if it’s sold out at your local store.

I bought this with my own funds for $3.29 for a 10.6-ounce package in 2025. That comes out to about 31 cents per ounce.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains milk. The label states this is vegetarian.

The Whole & Simple line at Aldi features frozen meals that have a lot fewer processed ingredients than your average TV dinner. That’s the case with this falafel bowl, which features primarily veggies, whole grains, and various spices.

One box contains one serving, which will net you 430 calories, 20 grams of total fat (26% DV), 3 grams of saturated fat (15% DV), 840 mg of sodium (37% DV), 54 grams of total carbohydrates (20% DV), 5 grams of dietary fiber (18% DV), 3 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 11 grams of protein.

This has a carbs-to-fiber ratio of 10.8:1. While there are foods with better ratios out there, this one is decent.

The box has directions for microwaving this. Remove the food tray from the box and pierce the film. Microwave on high for 4 to 4.5 minutes, stirring halfway through cook time. Let stand for 1 minute before serving.

I forgot to stir it halfway through the cooking time, and the falafel balls were a bit dry and hard, possibly for that reason. If this is still in stock the next time I go to Aldi, I’d like to buy it again so I can have a do-over with that.

Nevertheless, I like this bowl and would buy it again anyway. It has good flavor, and I like all the veggies and whole grains. I also like how this has plenty of sauce.

The Verdict:

The Whole & Simple Falafel Rice & Quinoa Bowl features brown rice, quinoa, chickpeas, bell peppers, spinach, falafel, and a creamy garlic sauce. It’s flavorful and pretty wholesome, and we’ll be stocking our home freezer with a few more boxes if we can find them.
