I have several raised garden beds and a greenhouse in my back yard that require regular watering and tending, but it can get muddy during rainy spring months and I need footwear that slips easily on and can handle a bit of dirt. Enter Aldi’s Gardenline Ladies Garden Boots.

These are like rain boots, except they’re slightly shorter. These are actually ankle-high boots. At the time of purchase, my local Aldi sells these boots for $12.99 in women’s sizes 7-10. They come in a variety of floral patterns, including a pattern also featuring ducks.

The boots are made in China and feature a rubber upper and outsole, a textile lining, a flexible sole, a heel loop to make it easier to pull the boots on, and a 3mm insock “for all day comfort.” Aldi’s ad for these boots on its website even states these boots are “great for commuting,” which seems to be a somewhat odd claim, but now you know you can wear these boots to the office on rainy days.

The boots are advertised as waterproof, and they claim to be easy to wipe clean or even hose clean.

I typically wear an 8 or 9 in women’s shoe sizes, and Aldi’s footwear tends to run on the small side. I started by trying on the size 8 garden boots in the store, knowing I might need to move up to the 9s. However, the 8s were actually a perfect fit. My feet slid into the boots easily and I had plenty of room to wiggle my toes. They do feel a bit clunky to walk in, so I wouldn’t advise any long hikes in these, but I think that’s the case with most any type of rain/garden boot like these.

My new garden boots plus my cat.

I’m looking forward to wearing these boots as I tend to my garden during the spring and fall months when it’s not warm enough to go barefoot or simply wear flip flops. They will have their own spot on the mat by my back door so I can quickly slip them on and head straight outside, and they should be great for rainy, muddy days.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Gardenline Ladies Garden Boots are like short rain boots. The ankle-high boots come in a variety of floral patterns in sizes 7-10 and are good for wearing on rainy days or for general garden and yard work. Much of Aldi’s footwear tends to run small, but these garden boots are pretty true to size. Recommended.

  1. Hello I’m looking for the gardenline short rubber boots for my garden. I had bought a pair in spring at aldi s is there any chance I can get two more in size 81/2 or nine? mine are wearing out I just love them so much.

    • The garden boots were only in stores for a short time. They usually come back around for a little while each spring.

    • I had looked for this particular style again too the following Spring season. Unfortunately, they had changed it. I haven’t come across them again. I would LOVE for a come back!

  2. Me too–I loved my cute black/flowered garden boots! Ever since they wore out I’ve been looking to buy another pair or two. I greatly hope Gardenline & Aldi bring them back — haven’t liked any of the the garden shoes/boots they’ve shown since.

  3. Yes, this year of 2021, they had some, but it was all gone by noon. They probably had two pair of size 9. what I need. The good things about this style (black wit lilies on it), it fits well and it is easy to get into. I can’t have anything else from the whole Internet. Good luck to us all.

  4. My Aldi in western MD has them right now! In 4 different colors/patterns!

    • Lars, can you please show a picture of it somehow if possible, or describe the design? This week Wednesday, May 5th, 2021we have them also (green with small white design), but it had rubbery slit (material) on both sides, and it is not easy to get into. They had this two years ago, did not fit. The one which was wonderful three years ago with red tulips design on it, or the other with the lilies this spring, about two months ago with red lilies on it. I could not get there at 9:00 a.m.
I washed out the old one. I am using them every day to water my plants or any yard work I do during the day living in FL. I make it somehow.
