Specially Selected Dark Chocolate Thins

Aldi is a great place to buy quality chocolate without breaking your budget. We’re big fans of their Regular Buy Choceur-brand chocolate bars with hazelnut paste, and their peanut butter cups aren’t bad either. Aldi also sells some good chocolate varieties as limited-time specials, whether it’s Valentine’s Day assortments or Advent calendars, or chocolate just because.

Some of the most recent chocolate specials Aldi sold were some dark chocolate thins. I picked up a bag of each after seeing some Aldi fans praise them on social media.

Specially Selected Dark Chocolate Thins

Specially Selected Dark Chocolate Thins cost $2.99 for a 4.7-oz. package at the time of publication. They come in two varieties: one with pretzel pieces and sea salt and another with almond pieces and sea salt. Each bag contains about four 4-piece servings (30 grams).

These are Aldi Finds (Special Buys), which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials, so once these sell out, they’re gone.

Both varieties are made with Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, which seeks to produce cocoa in ways that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.

These chocolate thins were all a hit in my household. My family slightly preferred the thins with the pretzel pieces, but they’re both good. The pretzel or almond pieces are small, and the salt is smoothly blended into the chocolate, with no visible salt crystals. This is basically chocolate bark that was formed in a large sheet and then broken into chunks. The chocolate pieces in each bag are a mix of large and small, and you can easily snap off a portion of a larger piece of chocolate if you just want a small snack.

Even though these are made with dark chocolate that is considered healthier, these still contain 13 grams of added sugars per serving, so enjoy them in moderation.

Read on for more information about each variety.
