Specially Selected Mild Mango Peach Salsa

Last Updated on May 31, 2019

One of the favorite jokes in our household is that whenever someone eats something gross, they immediately find another person and say, “This is gross—try it!” My family apparently thought I was about to poison them because I was immediately teased when I handed around a bowl of this Mango Peach Salsa and said, “This is so weird. You should all try it!”

Specially Selected Mild Mango Peach Salsa

Specially Selected Mild Mango Peach Salsa is a Regular Buy that retails for $1.99. We do not eat salsa regularly in our household (and when we do, we usually make it homemade), but on a recent trip to Aldi I realized I needed something to serve with a few different soups on the menu for the week. I decided on a whim to find a fruity salsa to go with my favorite Multigrain Tortilla chips and wound up with Mango Peach Salsa.

The nutrition information. (Click to enlarge.)

The main ingredients are tomatoes, mango, peach, onions, and jalapenos. Other ingredients include sugar, salt, and vinegar. Like most salsas, it’s pretty low in calories but also has some sodium.

It has fairly large chunks of the fruits and is a bit hotter than I expected. It is labeled mild but could easily be considered medium.

The responses as everyone in my family tried it were hilarious!

“Oh, this is good, but it’s weird!”

“It’s sweet–no it’s spicy. But it’s sweet. And spicy.”

“Can you put fruit in salsa?”

The Verdict:

It is good. No one loved it, but no one was grossed out either. We will finish this jar, but we will be searching for another fruity salsa to try next!
